Media Center TV tuner signals can either be Analogue or Digital. Depending on the quality level set for Analogue or the type of signal definition received in Digital will determine the amount of recording space needed.
Analogue TV Tuners have four levels of recording quality that can be set in the recording defaults -
- Fair: 1 GB/hour - Good: 2 GB/hour - Better: 2.5 GB/hour - Best: 3 GB/hour
Digital TV tuners will only receive the highest quality signal, the quality setting is not available to be changed in MCE. Digital TV may be Standard Definifition SD or High Definition HD content.
- SD: 3 GB/hour - HD: 12GB/hour
note: if using a mixture of analogue and digital cards in MCE the quality setting can be seen in the settings section but only applies to the analogue tuner.
