Unhappy No Video or DVD Playback

Please Help,

Just installed Media Centre 2005 but can't playback any video or DVDs. I have installed powerDVD ver6. I can playback DVD with powerDVD itself, but not in the media centre. I get the error "decoder malfunctioned or not installed"

The same goes for video clips. I've tried all different formats including divx & mpeg. Windows media player will play them back on the desktop but not in media centre itself.

I have also checked using the DECCheck program. It has powerDVD listed and set as the prefered decoder.

If anyone has any idea what is going on with my system, please let me know.

Re: No Video or DVD Playback

Are you saying you can't watch live TV?

Can you watch DVDs using any other app apart from MCE?

re-read his post.......

uninstall PowerDVD, and go to the NVIDIA website, and download the Trial Version of their PureVideo and see if that one works...

and as Chrisco said, would be helpful to know your systems specs...

Thumbs up Re: No Video or DVD Playback

Thanks For the replies, Got it all sortted out now. I was using the onboard video. It wasn't compatible with MCE.

Upgraded to a nVidia 6200, All works fine now. Well Almost.

I'm still having a few issues with live TV. I am using a Leadtek PVR2000 TV card. I get lines on the Live TV image. As soon as I time shift the channel a few seconds It seems OK.

I have upgraded all my drivers to the latest ones out there but still can't fix this problem.

I'm think that maybe my CPU is a bit slow. I'm running a Sempron 3100.

Anyway here is my full system specs:

Asus K8V-MX Motherboard
Sempron 3100 CPU
512meg ram
Asus N6200 Graphics Card
Leadtek PVR2000 TV card
80G & 250G HDD

If anyone knows a fix for the Live TV please let me know.

Thanks

Re: No Video or DVD Playback

that CPU is fine...have people on the forum running sempron 2400/2600 with dual tuners....

i'd say it MAY have something to do with the DVD Decoder...but im not sure...
