Enable 5.1 Audio on Abit AN8-Ultra Skt939.

Hi guys, I have rebuilt my Media Centre, and only 2x audio channels are working. Previously all 5.1 was working nicely.

I'm using a Abit AN8-Ultra Skt939 nForce4 board, PCI-x16 motherboard, and checked the following settings:
- Control Panel | Sounds and Audio Devices | Advanced Audio Properties = 5.1
- Control Panel | Sound Effect Manager| Speaker Configuration = 6ch
- Media Centre | Settings | Media Centre Setup | Setup your Speakers = 5.1
- Media Centre | Settings | DVD | Audio | Advanced | Speaker Setup = SPDIF Passthru
- And the Yamaha RX-V550 Amp is set accordingly

Does anyone else know that "magic setting" that I haven't yet switched on?

many thanks, Dugie

Are you using onbaord audio and if so what chipset? Soundmax by any chance?

Re: Enable 5.1 Audio on Abit AN8-Ultra Skt939.

Which mpeg2 decoder are you using ? I have the same board and found that although I had the an8 software set to spdif and mce configured to spdif and my chosen video decoder set to spdif I didn't get it till I also set the video decoder configuration under mce to spdif - it hadn't picked up the windows settings.

I did this by putting in a dvd, right clicking while a movie was playing selecting dvd audio and setting to spdif. Probably other ways to get to it but thats how I found it. Had to do this for both powerdvd and purevideo decoders I have tried.
