Working MCE lost all channels??

Hi,

I've been a busy reader of this site for a while now, and it's a great site for all MCE info.

Machine:
MCE 2005
AMD 3200
Gigabyte MB
Nvida FX5200 fanless video card
120Gb HDD
Adaptec ata raid card with 120 GB & 80GB drives

2 tuner cards
Fusion lite DVB-t card
Vision card
Blade runner TV guide

Problem:

Came home from work 2 days ago, and nothing was recorded and guide was missing all channels. I went through the setup guide again and no channels. so I went to scann all channels and I could only get about 3 from the usual 5.

I checked all leads and connection signal strength was good,

I've searched this forum incase MS changed something and the auto update fkd my system. but no luck

Channged the psisdecd.dll a couple of times using safe mode but now I've now lost all channels with MCE. I'm in melbourne I've tried the sth Yarra DLL as well as the Australian DLL

While I was at it I've installed new Divco driver the 3.2beta2 drivers and they work great and I've got all my channels when I use the fusion software
BUT.. when I fire up MCE it scans quickly but fines nothing even if I try with one card or 2 installed even with both if I choose to use only one card in MCE I still get no channels it is as if the channel scanning is stuck. I've tried running the restore channels and the startup wizzard from the begining but I think it's time for a fresh install
I also just install rollup 2 and all updates on the off chance it may fix something but still no luck

any help to avoid a re install would be great

Cheers

Re: Working MCE lost all channels??

I'm sorry to say but a reinstall is probably the best way to return your system to a stable point. You've made a number of changes, one on top of the other which makes it tricky to diagnose these types of problems. Additionally RU2 works much better when applied to a clean install. Because you've applied it to a damaged installation, I really doubt you're going to get much joy.

However there is one last roll of the dice.

- Try rolling back the Dvico driver to the version that was working for you and then run the MCE reset tool details that can be found here. You may have some luck. I really do recommend a rebuild and using a drive imaging tool along the way so if something like this happens again you can roll back to a known working image.

Cheers

Matt.

The quick answer is... get rid of any custom dlls as they are not designed or required with rollup2. Go into safe mode and delete the psisdecd.dll file, find the rollup2 version and put it back where it belongs. You will probably also have to reinstall BRP. If that doesn't work then start looking at other options as stated by Matt.
