How to adjust Analog Tuner Frequency in MCE?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post in this forum. I've been reading through many threads and I must say kudos to everyone for such a wonderful tool to assist MCE users!

I haven't found an answer to this question in other threads, but if it exists please direct me to it.

How can we adjust the tuner frequency that MCE automatically finds during its channel scan?

I have a Hauppauge 500mce oem, which is an analogue dual-tuner PVR. The rest of the specs may not be relevant, but here they are just in case.

Asus A8N-E
AMD 939 3000
2 x 512MB Hynix PC3200 DDR
WD 200GB SATAII 8MB
Coolermaster Cavalier 4 Silver
Pioneer 110D 16x Dual Layer DVD-RW Silver
256MB Asus 6600 TD PCI Express

The reason for this question is that several channels appear to be on the border of the best frequency, so adjusting the frequency number slightly would improve signal quality. My particular situation is living in a building which is half Hotel rooms & half condos, so I am getting some cable-tv channels (BBC, CNN, Fox8, Fox Sports 1&2) and some in-room movie channels, but most of those channels are either not very clear or not received in MCE (though they are perfectly clear when directly connected to my other TV).

Thanks heaps for your advice.

Cheers,

Chak

Hey Everyone!

Just thought I'd let everyone know how this panned out.

It turns out there is an ability to tweak the Windows Registry, whereby specific frequencies can be set that will override the frequencies that MCE 'found' during the channel scan.

Here's the information from the Microsoft Website:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...siontuning.asp

And here's a useful little app to let you set the frequencies without all the manual RegEdit effort:

I hope this was helpful.

Cheers,

Chak
