Is there a keyboard shortcut to minimise MCE ?

I hate having to use the little thumb stick on my keyboard to minimise MCE when I want to go back to desktop.

Thanks

• Windows Logo+D: Minimizes all open windows and displays the desktop
• Windows Logo+M: Minimize all
• SHIFT+Windows Logo+M: Undo minimize all
• Windows Logo+E: Windows Explorer
• Windows Logo+Break: System Properties dialog box
• ALT+SPACE: Displays the main window's System menu (from the System menu, you can restore, move, resize, minimize, maximize, or close the window)

Re: Is there a keyboard shortcut to minimise MCE ?

Generally I only minimise to do 'PC" or net stuff so often I need the keyboard anyway.

I wonder if any of those commands could be taught to a lerning remote somehow for Spaceman's needs. I using a Logitech/Harmony 360 so anything is possible.

On the off chance that scottb721's keyboard with the 'little stick' is the MS Media Centre remote, which probably uses the same IR receiver that allows him to use the Harmony, then there is a very good chance of programming the keys into the remote using the Harmony software...(I just have)

Re: Is there a keyboard shortcut to minimise MCE ?

I have an Imon VFD built into my machine, the Imon software that drives it allows you to add additional keyboard commands to do specific functions, you can also enter a remote button that will activate the keyboard commands.

For example I have the Zoom command entered into the software and have allocated it as remote button *

By pressing * it scrolls through the zoom screens.

I have a logitech 525 remote setup against the microsoft remote, the only problem: because I have never had the actual microsoft remote I can't teach the 525 any additional commands that the logitech software didn't already have.

But this is yet to actually be a problem.

Woz

Were there any tricks to teach a combo button press ?

I tried these two but all they did was bring up the start button/taskbar/sys tray. Didn't actually take me back to desktop.

Can someone else test this in MCE please. Thanks

EDIT -- Perhaps it was the "MCE always on top" setting in MCE. Will check later.

Re: Is there a keyboard shortcut to minimise MCE ?

Got the minimise sorted. I needed to press M twice with the windows key held down.

If you have a windows media IR keyboard and a harmony remote, you can teach that remote any IR code from any other IR device.
I just plugged the harmony remote into a pc with the Harmony software and made it learn "Alt+F4", Atl-Tab" and a few others from the keyboard.

Re: Is there a keyboard shortcut to minimise MCE ?

Hi,

I have just finished writing a small utility, which emulates the mouse using the (MS) remote control.
When in mouse mode, the Media Center window can be minimized with one click on the remote.
Additionally, this utility closes PowerDvd (if open), when the "green button" is pressed.

Let me know if you are interested to try it.
Best regards.
