Troubles with analog signal

Hey there was wondering if anyone can help me here.
I have just sat down to my media centre computer and connected a VCR video player to the composite to the input of the media centre card. I want to backup my old race video's to DVD or Hard drive.

The problem i am having is that media centre will detect the signal, but the signal comes broken with a black screen intermitently. I will get a few seconds of footage, then about 5 seconds of black screen. If i connect through an svideo out of the DVD output on the same VCR/DVD combo, it will play the footage perfectly. i have used different VCR players and different capture and edit softwear that i have installed but it seems to do the same thing wih any analog signal that runs through the media centre card.

Surely this can be rectified somewhere in the settings? HA

Any help would be appreciated

Re: Troubles with analog signal

To rub salt into the wound, i can connect a dv cam to the input of the same VCR and send the digital signal through the VCR and ouput the signal through the Composite lead to the media centre card and have no signal problems at all. It just seems to be when recieving an actual videotape analog signal.

This Media centre is a deadset CROCK of S>>T.

Its all good.......heaven forbid u would ever want to watch a video tape with it.
