Fresh MCE Install, no channels...

I have a dual boot system, MCE and vista .
MCE being the original system for TV and game playing. Vista as a trial for the TV side, too slow for games.

For reason X my system got corrupted, eventually i rerased the C: drive and did a fresh MCE install. This time the windows update posted XP SP3 for "windows upgrade" and i said yes.

I have a Dvico FUsion and Leadtek DTV-1000 cards.

MCE - Stand alone programs work (Fusion & Leadtek equivalent) , MCE either freezes on the 0% in the scan (both cards or only Fusion ticked) or scans (Leadtek ticked) but finds no channel.

Vista - STand alone and Vista MCE both work (HOWEVER have not rescanned in vista)

It IS NOT signal, i live in chatswood, sydney close to the transmitter at artamon.
The standalone programs for the cards find channels and work perfectly.

>> Has anyone else had this issue or done a fresh scan after upgrading to SP3 ?
>> Has the community technology evolved to save a valid channel scan under MCE
and reload the registry / files so a scan is NOT needed again ?

Thanks!

Re: Fresh MCE Install, no channels...

Hi Greg

The current consensus is that SP3 can be problematic with MCE and should not be installed. It also seems that it is not simple to remove as it changes some parts of the OS and really a fresh install is needed.

Craig.
