xpmce blank screen vmce ok

Hi All,

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 with default resolution of 1280x800.

VMCE runs in full screen with no issues at this resolution.

For various reasons, I want to run XPMCE but can only get MC in full screen at 1024x768 (4x3) resolution which gives me a wide black border either side. (At any other resolutions, I just get a blank screen).

As usual tried various stages of updates and native windows drivers as well as Dell drivers.

Any ideas on how to get this sorted under XPMCE?

thanks

mamikel

Re: xpmce blank screen vmce ok

check the manual for your display and fin the native resolution in the card settings. don't foget MCE likes to dispay in 60Hz and your telli may be in 50Hz. You may require the "forceMCE50hz" reg hack to force it to work. alternatively you may be able to add a custom rez under your card settings

thanks for the tip. I'm not trying to display it on my telly, it's the laptop screen that it won't display in full screen on (except in the resolution I mentioned). Having said that, your note regarding frequency may be worth investigating.

By forceMCE50hz reg hack do you mean as per MRX's comment here: Is stutter-free an illusion?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media Center

Add a new key of "EnableRefreshRateChange", with a value of "0".

thanks again
