Unhappy Black screen when launching Media Center

Can anyone help?

I recently had to change my graphics card on my PC to ATI HD3450.

Installed fine and all drivers for the card updated, the PC works fine windows is set at 1024x768 60hz refresh rate.

I connect my PC to my plasma screen via Svideo (the only option i have).

However when i launch Media Centre all i get is a black screen, i can hear the sounds from the menus and also set the mouse cursor, but the rest of the screen is just black and cant see the normal blue menu screen..

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks Jay

Re: Black screen when launching Media Center

Hi JayKay76,

I believe your problem is the resolution you have selected , S-Video is intended for standard tv resolution use only, the following quote is from wikipedia,.

Quote:
Separate video, abbreviated S-Video and also known as Y/C is an analog video signal that carries the video data as two separate signals, luma (~brightness) and chroma (colour), unlike composite video, which carries (lower-quality) picture information as a single signal, or component video, which carries (higher-quality) picture information as three separate signals, typically luma and two chroma components. S-Video, as most commonly implemented, carries 480i or 576i resolution video, i.e. standard definition video, but does not carry audio on the same cable.
I suggest you reduce your resolution and try again, keep reducing until you get a picture.

Craig.
