Thumbs down Compro E700 Failed After SP3

Hi there,

I haven't been here a while - I was a regular here in the beginning, when I was just getting my Media Center up and running - however I now return to report that alas, SP3 killed my setup

The install went smoothly and the machine booted fine. When I loaded MCE however, the pain started. It couldn't find the tuners. Tried reinstalling the drivers (latest from Compro site) yet no joy.

Further, watching videos (mainly MKVs) within MCE crashes on seek when it never used to. In short MCE seems totally destroyed. I reinstalled Windows but this didn't really help. Funny thing is, I reinstalled SP3 as the rest of the PC hums along like a charm. Just minus MCE.

I don't have time for a completely fresh install, but out of interest has anyone else with an E700 Compro card had problems with SP3? If so, have you managed to restore your system without a complete rebuild? How?

Re: Compro E700 Failed After SP3

I had similar issues with my E700... then I wiped and reload SP2 only
problem solved. - I previously tried just uninstalling SP3 but no joy.

Re: Compro E700 Failed After SP3

Hi SkyWraith,

I managed to get SP3 working nicely with SP3. I detailed that in another thread here: http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...tml#post206810

Regards,

Xav.

Re: Compro E700 Failed After SP3

XavierDa,

Why go to all the trouble, SP3 adds nothing to MCE 2005 and anything that requires one to "go through hoops" should be avoided. I had a look at using it when I recently rebuilt my system and again when I built a second system but found after installing it I had problems with additional updates, all of which were optional, but included drivers and updates to .net so reinstalled without SP3.

Craig.
