some avis will not play

Hello all,
My MCE2005 seems to be working fine except that some avi's will not play when you click play it just comes up with the finished screen where you can replay, delete etc. If I click restart it just reverts back to the same screen. The only funny thing I can she is that they ac3 sound. btw these movies play fine in wmp

Re: some avis will not play

What codec are you using? If it's FFDSHOW then it may pay you to enable AC3 audio decoding in FFDSHOW and see how that goes. Otherwise try AC3FILTER to allow AC3 decoding,

It sounds like MC does not have an AC3 decoder installed. Just because it plays in WMP doesn't mean it will in MC - crazy, but true.

I just installed the ac3filter and it still will not play. still acts like it just finished playing the movie.
