Angry MCE 2005 With 32 Meg Video Card

I know that this topic has been touched on all over the net, but I can't seem to find a solution for MY computer. Others seem to be having luck with various registry edits and hacks, and even editing the ehshell.exe, but I've tried seemingly everything to no avail.

First of all, I have a 32 meg ATI Rage 128 Ultra. I have no intentions of upgrading this computer in any way. I don't want to spend any money on it. It's just an extra computer I figured I'd put in the bedroom as a bedroom television and run Media Center on it. It has to be Media Center, because I want to be able to use my remote and just sit in bed and play videos off of my playlist.

Now I did get rid of the first error message that tells me my card is not supported with whatever that dxcheck registry deal was, but after I did that, no error, but media center opened to a black screen. The videos still wouldn't play though because I know how to navigate to my videos, and I did that with the black screen, and still no play, so that was no good. I undid that and now I'm just stuck.

Oh, also, I had no problems at all editing and recompiling ehshell. Each step went flawlessly, so I know I did everything right. There was no change whatsoever. I even tried a couple other times with even lower values. Ex= once I did 100000, another time 500000, etc.

I'm drawing a blank here. It seems as though others are having luck with lower level video cards. Why can't I have the same? Heck I do beleive this is the first time I've actually had to post on a forum to solve a problem. I usually have pretty good luck solving from other people's experiences. I've exhausted my efforts. HELP!

Others are having luck running lower level GPUs? Is news to me - but sounds like a real stretch.

Put a value on your time....spend $40 on a cheap GPU or spend hours tinkering and almost certainly never getting a decent result.

Doesn't seem like a decision to me. Good luck.

Re: MCE 2005 With 32 Meg Video Card

sorry to say I agree.

It is to do with your card missing components that MCE requires to run would be my opinion, sure you can ignore the message but you still have the problem.
