Cannot Play DVD's in Media Center

All was going well with my XP media center..until.. I decided to upgrade my dvd drive for a newer model.. Now when I try to play a dvd in media center its gives me an error saying the dvd is the wrong zone..I know the dvd is not the wrong zone.. it was working perfectly well in the same machine with the old dvd drive.. Also I can play dvd's through windows media player ok..on the new dvd rive..
I have all the needed codecs etc installed.. as I had a stable system.. All I have done is replace the dvd drive..
Any suggestions as to how to play dvd's in media center..with this new drive?

Re: Cannot Play DVD's in Media Center

Hey there

Seems strange that it plays ok in media player but I would try checking in device manager in the properties of the dvd drive to make sure all is ok and that the correct region has been selected. It may be that needs setting up first for MCE to recognise it.

Personally i use anydvd which eliminates any of this region nonsense

Good luck

J

I just tried DVD43, it doesn't work for me, still get region errors. Is it not compatible with VMC??

Region killer, despite being very old seems to work flawlessly for me. I had intermittent success with dvd43.
