Nvidia Decoder expired!

My decoder has expired and now get this error in Live TV

Decoder Error
The video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed.

I reinstalled but to no avail.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall but still the same error.

I tried to buy, but the shop is still closed.

Has anyone had the same problem, and how can this be solved please?

Thanks in advance,
Dick

Re: VVidia Decoder expired!

You would either have to buy it ( which is a bit hard at the moment) or use another decoder for the time being, ie: WinDVD6 ...

Re: VVidia Decoder expired!

You could try this : http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3890.html

It also has a 30 day trial, it does say 5 mins playing time but that would be for the player I think. I would imagine the decoders would still work...

Re: Nvidia Decoder expired!

Guys, I find this situation to be unacceptable so I just wrote to Nvida as follows:
================================
Hi there,

I'm the administrator of Australia's largest XP Media Center support website (www.xpmediacentre.com.au ) and I have recently received many emails from our members with a problem - your NVidia mpeg decoder.

I am a user of your decoder as are all the management team here and because of that, we recommend it at all times.

As a result, hundreds of our members have downloaded the 30 day trial (because your shop has been offline) but now they are starting to get "decoder expired" errors - and your shop is still closed - and has been for more than the 30 days you state on your website.

This is not a good situation and I would like your feedback on how these people are supposed to run their Media Centers now without having to buy and/or obtain and install other software decoders.

I would appreciate an early reply with your advice so that I can post to our community and help them out with this problem.

Kind regards,

====================================

I'm due a response within 24 hours - I'll let you know what happens.

Mike

Re: Nvidia Decoder expired!

Typically worded reply - but at least it contains what appears to be an important piece of info:
=======================

Thank you for your request. The NVIDIA store was handled by a 3rd party company. For certain reasons we cannot disclose why NVIDIA ceased doing business with this company.

Unfortunately, it has taken Marketing some time to find a new e-store front and logistics company to handle decoder sales.. NVIDIA Marketing has indicated that the store will be back on July 8th 2005.

Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder_purchase.html to be notified when the store is back online. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

Re: Nvidia Decoder expired!

Thats good news. They really shot themselves in the foot there for a bit. Any indication on pricing yet?

Re: Nvidia Decoder expired!

I just received the following email from nvidia - maybe Mikes email prompted them to do something....

Quote:
Thank you for your interest in the NVIDIA® DVD Decoder. As you may know, our store is currently offline and is scheduled to re-open in a few weeks.

In an effort to give you an uninterrupted experience, we are releasing a new 60 day trial of a BETA version of our next generation decoder called the PureVideo™ Decoder. The new PureVideo Decoder Trial will work even if your previous 30 day trial period has expired. The PureVideo Decoder is currently in BETA test phase and is available for download on nZone.com.

We will send you another email notification when the new PureVideo Decoder is available for purchase online.

New features in this BETA version include:
In Windows Media Player 10 and Media Center Edition, added seamless playback of ATSC and DVB transport streams in both SD and HD formats
Windows Media Encoder 9 - added support for UVYV output formats
Support for inverse 2-2 mode
Thank you for choosing NVIDIA!

(You are receiving this email because you filled out the request to receive more information on the NVIDIA DVD Decoder. If you did not sign up or wish to be removed from future emails, please send an email to dvd_decoder@nvidia.com with "Remove" in the subject line).
I received the email because Im a registered user of nvidia... anyone else who ticked the box to be kept informed should also have received the email...

So here you go guys a new 60 day trial to use while awaiting the shop to open.... the link in the email sends you to the following location - so give it a try:
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_do...150-trial.html

Still peeved off with them though - if I have to purchase it again...

Re: Nvidia Decoder expired!

They have missed every date for months... pretty shocking for such a brand name company...

Re: Nvidia Decoder expired!

Thanks for this!

I too had my 30 day trial expire on me. I'm also peeved off with Altech for selling me their Gold edition - which they never gave me the download - just a key - so I could never use that either!

Hopefully within the next 30 days I'll get a full version going!
