If there's one thing that's frustrated me the most about my mce machine, its that my mp3 library is showing up a little weirdly on screen. I've mainly used itunes in the past to get my music together and get all the album art for it. so now all my music has artwork. however when i copy my library to the mce machine and then make windows media player monitor the folder and add the content to its library it looks fine. but when i open mce and go into the music library, there is always about half with art and half without. its very annoying and i can't understand why its like that when itunes/windows media player display properly?
I have the same problem, from what I have read it seems to be to do with either IE7 or WMP11 some people have reported the problem went away after reverting to IE6, I have not tried this so do not know if it works.
Are you guys referring to the Black Album Art that appears (since installing WMP11 on MCE), that is on some songs / albums but not on others. The album art is correct when looking through my music but is black when actually playing tracks or albums.
This happens when individual tracks have a piccy associated with the track as well as the album. Use a APP such as 'Tag and Rename' can remove these associated piccy tags.

nope i mean when actually scrolling through the list of music on in the library by album. some album covers appear, some do not. even when you go into the album and start playing it - no artwork - even if there is actually artwork attached to the files themselves they do not appear in mce. haven't tried what bella mentioned though so i'll give that a go!

hey nudge, could you elaborate on what you've said a wee bit further? i've found that certaib albums are showing art in individual songs in mce, but not in album view. i think this is due to what you've said - i have added art to the id3 of each track in itunes, rather than just one image per album. i'd prefer to have it this way, are you saying that i need to remove the art from each track and have only one pic per album?
There have been a few threads about (and I had the same issue) that when playing an album or track in my music the album art would display as a Black Box. The album art would display Ok when scrolling through the library. This has occurred after installing WMP11.
The solution to fix was to remove the art associated to each track and just have the one piccy per album.
If yo have spent a lot of time setting up your ID3 tags, I would just leave them. Usually when I play music a visualization is on or the screen saver anyway.
I have this issue, and I am starting to think that tis somethign to do with how media center groups stuff. Its basically looking at teh media player library, so all music needs to be correctly tagged,if there is a typo on a few of the tracks album name, then they do not get "found" by media center when it checks teh internet for the picture ( rather than using the local folder :/ )
Ther eis a plugin somewher eon these boards that shows you your music in folder view like in windows, so even if some of it has no tags it still shows up, and also its quicker as rather than every album in one folder, people usually have some sort of filing system fo their music.
I just did an interesting discovery... every artist and album folder has a desktop.ini file which saves info regarding the information retrieved from Internet and in each album folder there are a couple of file which start with "AlbumArt_{xxx...}_Large" and "AlbumArt_{xxx...}_Small"... looks like MCE uses these files to retrieve album info from Internet, but if for some reason there's no sync between the ID tags and this files, then MCE does not show info. What I did to solve this issue for good was:
1. Close MCE and WMP
2. Go to your music folder and look for AlbumArt_* and be sure to select in advance options the option to search for hidden and system files
3. Select all files and delete them
4. Do 2 and 3, but not with desktop.ini
5. Start MCE and WMP and you would notice everything is just fine
The only thing that looks like you loose when you do this, is the link between the album record in Internet and the one that you have in your music folder. For me this is not a big issue, and everything looks like should be in MCE now...
Hope this helps.... btw... the album picture is stored in folder.jpg and AlbumArtSmall...
