MCE 2005 (Rollup2) Not Receiving TV channels?? But xbox 360 extender does???

OK. Firstly I guess I should say hello all. First time on the Australian Media Centre Community Forums, and as usually the case your first thread has something to do with problem resolution!!!

I have just got a PC with MCE 2005 (rollup2) This pc is sort of a media centre server linked to my home entertainment system in another room via an xbox 360, but I also use it as a desktop media centre pc with the monitor to which it is connected. The connection to the 360 is via wire ethernet.

I had a few problems setting up the sytem a few weeks back and had to send the PC back to have a graphics card issue sorted. I have now encountered another issue with MCE software (I think)

Set up went fine and I used it for a few days. I tuned in the TV channels and all was going fine.

All of a sudden the MCE can't detect the TV channels in Live TV. It gives the error meassage stating "not receiving the channel and that the broadcaster may be experiencing technical issues or to check the antenna." -or something to that effect. This is the case on ALL channels, and the antenna is great. In fact I know there is no issue because the other program I have installed that came with the tuner card (DTB? or DBT?) is working and receiving all the channels. I will add though that this program (DTB) is not receiving sound on the High Definition channels, which is was earlier, but no problems on analog or SD channels.

Anyway, when I go into the other room and use the MCE via the xbox 360 extender it works fine and no problems receiving the channels from there??

Does anyone know what i will need to do for the desktop PC to be able to receive the channels???

Hope you guys can help, and looking forward to being a AMCC regular, but more for helping others than having problems sorted myself hopefully!

thanks

Re: MCE 2005 (Rollup2) Not Receiving TV channels?? But xbox 360 extender does???

Try using MCE Reset Tool from Salloway.

But that may or may not solve your probs. It resets all config, you'll have resetup MCE and that could work. It also depends on if you've used WIndows Update....this can break your MCE setup but not your Xbox360, if your MCE PC is not recieving any signal but the 360 is then that sounds like a hardware problem.

Check the 360 is not using all the bandwidth of it. That's why it could say there is no signal (unplug the 360 and see what happens). If that doesn't work call your PC manufacturer and tell them the problems...they should be able to possibly help you.

Cheers mate.

Even if your DVB-T program is working chances are MCE won't work sometimes.

Is it a Twinhan card? That's your first problem.

I dont believe it but I am all sorted. I actually souced the solution by using another two MCE forums. The first was the green button where a forum user put me onto the Microsoft knowledgebase with a direct link to an upgrade KB914548.
I downloaded the upgrade and whoo hoo....back on track. Now for some serious MCE discovery. Have downloaded IceTV 14 day trial EPG...not all that impressed at this stage. Will be looking for a cheaper and better alternative at the end of 14 days I suspect.
Thankyou all who assisted. Looking forward to returning the favour soon.

That's the one I downloaded and it worked well. Actually it worked so good that believe it or not, TV reception in MCE2005 actually works even on a crap antenna.
