Thumbs up Get Most Cards To Work In Mce

Hi guys i have set up my leadtek winfast expert tv card and got it running in media centre only one glithe which i am still working on and that is getting sound to work through the patche cable. I get all tv stations and all radio but because it rellies on a patche cable for sound which hopefully if get time today will get working.
All i used was the winfast wdm driver and a handy little sofware encoder setup.
Is there a way of posting a 5.5 meg file on the site. for others to use.
will also place instructions on how to setup.
sorry about the run around but i have always had problems putting on paper.
doing and knowing are one thing, putting on paper is another.

THIS IS NOT A HOAX

I think an admin has to add it to the Downloads section here. You could always use http://www.megaupload.com/ too

Re: Get Most Cards To Work In Mce

Broadstar,

Most of the Winfast drivers are available fom the Leadtek website anyway.
Which card do you have (or which driver are you using and which card would it be bundled with?)
Whats the codec utility you are using?

Sorry for all the questions!!

cool thanks for that the file is above:
All you have to do is download and unzip file and double click on setup and then then your system should reboot.
Then run media centre setup agian but tune in the analogue side of the card.
What the sofware does is allow media centre to pickup and software encoded cards in media centre.
Some cards with patche cables it won't work on,i am trieing to fix this problem.
If your get double sound disconnect the patche cable ,it will run of the card.
works on non media centre cards also if having problem get back to me.
any driver should work with it.

Re: Get Most Cards To Work In Mce

Top stuff Broadstar..thanks for the info and files. I`ll try it tonight when i get home if the other half doesnt object too much.

Nudge, Ive got the same cards as you (Avermedia A16A hybrid), any chance of a brief run-down on what youve done so far to get the Fm tuner working?

Cheers guys

Re: Get Most Cards To Work In Mce

MisterP,

Yep - reasonably striaght forward

1. Downloaded and installed Broadstars software encoders from this thread - couldn't be easier

2. Did a quick check in MCE to see if "analogue" selection was available in 'Start Menu - Settings - TV - Setup Tv Signal - YES - Next - Yes (aus region) - Next - Antenna - Analogue or digital, I didn't select anything or proceed past this point, just closed MCE.

3. Followed wixkidder's thread here post #30 is the best instruction.

4. As I only wanted FM radio (no Pay TV worries), Step SIX of wixkidders instructions should be, FOR FM RADIO USERS ONLY go 'Start Menu - Settings - TV - Setup Tv Signal - YES - Next - YES (Aus region) - Next - Antenna - Select Analogue - Next - TWO TUNERS - NEXT - Return to TV settings - FINISH' and do not scan channels or setup guide, exit MCE.

5. Follow remaining steps in wixkidders instructions. FM radio should be available to select + Digital, I did a reboot to ensure it all worked.

6. Just need to check the priorities given to each tuner, eg - if one channel is recording then FM rado can't be used, if Live TV is just being watched then FM radio can be switched to.

Hope this helps.
