Re: Alienware DHS 2 Series Media Center PC Wins CNET's "Next Big Thing" Award

An 128MB X300 graphics card in an Alienware PC? Shame on you Alienware!
"Alienware's DISCover Console Gaming software lets you demo, buy, and download games - on demand" ???
Yes, and best of luck trying to actually play anything and enjoy it, MUHAHAHAAAA

I'm surprised they didnt just opt for integrated. X300 does sound nice though. It's a real pity they're not good for anything except desktop work. Probably one of the 64bit variety too! Ouch...

And dual TV tuners with one 80GB HDD? Who's building their systems now? HP?

But, I do agree it looks nice!

Actually the back end look very similar to the MS spec for the new BTX standard for MCE boxes. The spec can be found on the MSDN libraries for MCE.

There is a company in Sweden that uses the exact same case as Ailienware.

Se the third post here :

http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/foru...pic,118.0.html

Unfortunately this is also equiped with the X300 gfx but with a bigger HDD

But I agree It is a nice case* 8)

Hi R_a_M_a,
I totally agree with you. It's exactly what I thought of when I first found this system - but thought I'd post it anyway since it's a Media Centre PC* ;D

Although you have the option to configure the system before purchase (you can upgrade some components, such as the hard drive [up to 400GB]) they'll hopefully release something with a more powerful video card soon.

Cheers,
Harry.

Re: Alienware DHS 2 Series Media Center PC Wins CNET's "Next Big Thing" Award

My first ever posting!!!

The case looks like a Uneed x.11 - I've been looking at the x.15 for my first MCE machine, which is the same case but with a 7 inch LCD touch screen (probably a white elephant but my 10 year old thinks it's the coolest thing ever put on a PC!)

Take a look.

Shan.

P.S. I'll be posting the first draft for my machine for you more experienced guys to cast an eye over and check for any obvious mistakes/suggestions (I'm a server guy, havent built a PC of any description for about 6 years!)
