Re: new to HDTV

Go hunting for an error log, any error or installation log may have a reference to which hotfix or KB (knowledge base) article is required. I've had to use this when patching a couple of games. When you have a number it's easy to search through the relavent site, ie. Windows KB site, and get the appropriate patches in place.

Re: new to HDTV

Andrew,
I just joined this site primarily to resolve the same problem you have described. The system installed and worked fine when I was using Vista, however, I decided to change to the more familiar windows XP. Now when I try to install the driver, I get a message to install "hotfix" just like you did. Unfortunetly the documentation provided with the HDTV USB receiver does not provide a company website to contact in regards to installation problems. I was wondering if you resolved this problem, and if so, how?

Re: new to HDTV

Same here, tried to install under XP Pro and got the 'Install hotfix' message. Checked for an error log and found nothing, no details of where to get tech support.

Re: new to HDTV

The answer is to goto
Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Device Manager

Then look for the DVB unknown device with a '?' next to it. Select it then right click properties.
The click the Driver tab and update driver. Point it towards the CD and let it scan the disk, then make sure you choose the right device driver for XP.

Bob's your uncle....

cheers

Re: new to HDTV

I tried this before posting my previous message. Although I pointed device manager to the precise location of the driver on the CD it would not recognise it and I got the message that the 'troubleshooter' could not help me any further with the problem.

Re: new to HDTV

ok, I've got it sorted now. The driver that came with the TV stick doesn't like XP SP3.
I found this out there on the internet - not on the supplier web site though:

http://www.augustint.com/download.htm

This version of the driver likes XP SP3
