Softsqueeze for MCE

Hi a friend of mine - Rory OBrian - from Leeds in the UK has developed a squeezebox for the MCE. If you are interested you can download and try it for yourself

www.mcesoftsqueeze.co.uk

The softsqeeze server is available at www.slimdevices.com

For those who may not know (and apologies for those who do). Softsqueeze is the software equivalent to the Logitech Squeezebox, the network device for playing music, internet radio etc from a central server. Ie you can set your music to play on all your computers (and any squeezebox devices) either independantly or synchronised with each other. You basically "stream" your music across your network, rather than lugging the files over to play in MCE my music. You can even log in remotely and play your music from work etc!

I have it installed on my XP media centre (running with a standard MS Remote) and it works well. If you need more info, you can message me here or send feedback to Rory on the website.

It only runs from the "Other Programs" area at present (if someone can help with putting it onto the main menu it would be appreciated)

Also the look is limited at present to what you see. (again if anyone is interested in creating new "skins" talk to us"

did i say its all free!! too

Re: Softsqueeze for MCE

Works well, but a few of the files need a quick edit if you don't have MCE/Program Files on drive C:.

I've been wanting to sync up my internet radio throughout the house for ages, & this is spot on.

Justin

Re: Softsqueeze for MCE

Glad you like it

I also wanted to do this exact same thing and happened upon this in the slimdevices forum (more by luck than judgement) i emailed Rory who kindly sent it through, and i was away. So i asked him if it would be OK to put it up here.
