MCE Standby Tool 0.9.69, MediaPortal support

V0.9.69 beta

- The usual bug fixes and minor improvements.

- MediaPortal support.

- A new method for starting eHome.
This seems to solve some cases of missed recordings.
Suspending and resuming is faster.
Loosing focus on resume is fixed.

-‘Assume unattended resume is a recording or guide update’. When enabled MST assumes the system is woken for a recording or guide update as long as there is no user detected (keyboard, mouse or remote activity) and suspend the system when done. This is very useful for systems running S4 or S3 and do not have support for “automatic-resumes”

Do not use this when the system is used for remote tasks (remote desktop, WebGuide, file/printer server etc.).

- S4 support improved.

- “Kill FPmanager.exe at resume” is improved. (clock fix for Intel based barebones like the Paradigit Enjoy TV2005)

Enjoy the new version!

Herman

Herman,

I have a new VISTA Media Centre that I would like to be able to put into the SLEEP mode overnight....but if I have a scheduled recording it will miss that recording if it is in SLEEP mode....can I use your utility to allow the media centre to WAKE UP when required to record shows and then go back to SLEEP when not needed.....?

Note : I am running VISTA...

Thanks
Scott

Re: MCE Standby Tool 0.9.69, MediaPortal support

MST will not wake your box, that’s standard VMC functionality. Sometimes this fails. Often MST can help you to fix this.

Keep in mind MST is not fully functional on Vista yet. I just released a new test build (0.9.70) that is able to select the sleep state and configure the Away Mode on Vista:

http://www.downloadcounter.de/counte...ip&user=hveijk

Keep an eye on this threat: http://www.degroeneknop.nl/forum/ind...ic,3135.0.html for the latest info on MST and Vista.

Cheers,

Herman

Re: MCE Standby Tool 0.9.69, MediaPortal support

Hi All

I've being using MST Ver 9.54 on my MCE 2005 for almost 3 months and not an problem, until I installed Anydvd which causes MCE interface not to open correctly ,I have tried delay time standby time but still no go ,if I tick not not to start ehome with MST and open manually I don't have a problem, I just don't understand what's the different from MST opening ehome to manually pushing a button to opening.

I also tried the lastest verion of MST, and what happens I get a black screen when I use anydvd and the only way to fix it is press the reset button

I hope someone can help me

Jacks5000,

What exactly do you mean with “not to open correctly”? Can you give me some more details.

Is AnyDVD stealing the focus (pushing the eHome window to the back) ?
Is AnyDVD conflicting with something else like e.g. Daemon Tools?
Have you tried to update AnyDVD to a newer version?

Try starting AnyDVD from the startup folder instead of the run key.

You can check the event log for possible errors.

The black screen is caused by the blanking the newer version uses, try clicking the mouse button, it should remove the blanking.

Cheers,

Herman

Thanks - looking forward to seeing a fully functional Vista version at some point in the future (hopefully not too distant :P)

What happens is when MST opens MCE interface the tool bar is still there, so maybe AnyDvd is stealing the focus (pushing the e home window to the back) ? thats with Ver 9.54. With your lastest ver I just get a black screen when MST opens MCE the only way I can fix it is by pressing the reset button

I have tried putting AnyDVD from the startup folder instead of the run key. I just get the same thing
I don't use any Daemon tools ,my MCE is only to what TV.

Cool program

I can only get S1 to work though, s3 an s4 instantly turn the pc back on after its entered standby, no idea why. Either my leadtek dtv or dlink wireless causing it I think?

Re: MCE Standby Tool 0.9.69, MediaPortal support

Hey guys,

What is the advantage of using this tool over setting XP to go into standby after idle of certain number of minutes (i have it at 20 mins) and wake up on recording? I haven't had a problem with this but if this tool would give me some advantages i'd love to try it

Post Re: MCE Standby Tool 0.9.69, MediaPortal support

Thanks for a great program. I have hade it on my HTPC fore some time now. And it has worked perfect when I used Windows XP Media Center 2005. But now I have installed Vista Ultimate and now MST doesn't feel when Media Center is running and there fore does not go in to standby. I just tryed version 0.9.70.0 and same problem there. I have tested on one Swedish Vista Ultimate and then even reinstalled an English Vista Ultimate just to make sure that it wasn't an language issue.

Any tips ?

And I have one suggestion to coming releases. That is to have an option to run a command or a file after resume. In my case I want to restart a service when it comes back from resume.

Mvh.
Mikael

Re: MCE Standby Tool 0.9.69, MediaPortal support

Hi Mikael,

You can find 0.9.72 here.

That one should be able to detect eHome on Vista.

I might need to fine-tune the idle thresholds a little, but you can give it a try.

Keep in mind this one is (very) beta, I hope to make a public release of a Vista compatible version pretty soon.

For your other question, see this threat:

Cheers,

Herman
