Adding xbox 360 extender screws up HTPC, stop video playback

Hi all,

I have a very odd problem with a media center I am setting up for a friend. The Media Center (Vista SP1) is connected via an amp to a Toshiba LCD. I am using HDMI and Optical for image and sound into the amp, and then HDMI out to the the LCD. The resolution is 1080p, and all is well. The Toshiba screen does require an EID refresh to pick up the HDMI signal, but that is manageble. My issue is that when I added an xbox 360 onto the network, (which is via a wireless adapter), the resoultion of the HTPC was reduced to the lowest setting, and when I played an AVI or DVD files on the PC, I lost the HDMI signal. had to reboot the PC to get a signal back. I tried to resinstall codecs etc, but the 'Add Extender utility' really screwed things up. In the end I had to restore to the last good config...Before I try this activity again, has anyone got any ideas as to what actually occured? BTW, the networl strength was pretty crap, so I will use a wired connection next time. Could this have a bearing?

Cheers

Simon
