Xbox 360 no 50Hz HD when used as an extender

It's that time again where the PAL uses of the world have to stand up and ask, why don't we have 50Hz HD. I have sent another e-mail to the lead program manager media center devices at MS demanding an answer to this issue. I beg for everyone with this issue to do the same. Below is a copy of my e-mail.
Almost forgot. His name is Todd Bowra and his e-mail is Todd.Bowra@microsoft.com

Cheers.

Nick

Hello Todd,

It's been quite some time since my last enquiry into the 60Hz issue with Australian Xbox 360 whilst being used a an extender. Has there been any effort into enabling 50Hz in HD for Australian users? In the past you mentioned that you would like to see this enabled for us folk in PAL territory. If it was a simple case of enabling the 360 you would think that this would have been done some time ago. Could you shed some light on if 50Hz will be available for us Aussies and if so when. I love my 360 as an extender and it would be a shame if other products became more popular because of the 360’s shortfalls. I and the Australian community deserve an honest answer in regard to this matter.

Regards,

Nick Wilson

It's not just in Australia, but in Europe as well. If it was just an Australian issue, then one could understand that they can't be bothered. It is a Ludicrous situation that should have been addressed ages ago.

Re: Xbox 360 no 50Hz HD when used as an extender

Isn't this a case of selling a product not fit for the purpose!!

This problem is not just with the XBox, I have been trying to find out what happened to PAL 25/50 options in the ATI CCC options for Component DTV for a while now and today I got this response.........

==========================
We have responded to your issue.

Solution: I was able to confirm that the option was removed for component video due to display issues it was causing. At this time, I don't have a definitive answer as to whether or not the feature will be added back at a future time.

Ticket Information:
Ticket #: 737-1339609
Date Created: 5/19/2008 8:28 PM EDT
Category: Solve a Problem
====================================

..............even though it states quite clearly in the help files that FULL support is provided for PAL!!

my email is on it's way to Todd

Re: Xbox 360 no 50Hz HD when used as an extender

I have a response from MS. Here it is.

Nick,

At this point in time I don’t have any updates I can share beyond our previous conversation. The Australian community is important to us and this is something we’re looking at, but I cannot comment on specifics right now. I suggest checking in with me in another month…

regards,
Todd

Looks like I’ll be e-mailing again in around a month. I’ll post the response once I get one.

Nick

Re: Xbox 360 no 50Hz HD when used as an extender

I don't believe it. Received this e-mail today from Todd.

Yes it works.

Pity I can't use HDMI. I have no way of getting the digital audio to my amp. Any surgestions?

Nick,

If you haven’t downloaded it already, you may want to go grab the below update:

These 2 updates were already on my VMC yesterday morning and I now have glorious 50hz support on my current gen HDMI connected X360.
