Xbox Extender causing my pc to crash/reboot

I've recently built my HTPC and use my xbox as an extender. Everything works fine for a while and then my VMC will blue screen and reboot. If I use the VMC only, I never have a problem, it's only when I extend to the xbox that it crashes after a period of time.

Sometimes, 5 minutes, sometimes 30 but it always happens. I don't need to be doing anything in particular either.

I'm running a hard wired connection to the xbox via my Netgear router. Sharing files via my XP machine (through Media Player) is fine - whether it's video, pictures or music - it never has a problem, only the VMC.

Config is:
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3p mobo
2Gb Kingston DDR2 800Mhz RAM
Nvidia 8600GT PCIE Graphics Card
480 True Powes PSU
Vista Home Premium OS
Hauppauger NOVA-T 500 Tuner
Onboard LAN
Onbourd Sound - optical out
INTEL E6550 CPU

I've run 'Tune Network' and it's all fine - I get a full reading for the network connection. As stated, all functionality works as expected - right up until it crashes...

Nothing useful in event viewer either. Only that it unexpectedly shut down.

Re: Xbox Extender causing my pc to crash/reboot

Well, it looks like this is now fixed. I tried two things at once so not sure which did the trick.

Had tried a 2nd xbox and had a similar problem so at least that ruled the console out...

1st was to get rid of the Vista installed LAN driver which was dated 2006 (pre-Vista) and put the latest on from my mobo website.

2nd was to uncheck the IPv6 checkbox in network properties.

The first would have done the trick!

The second is so that the newer version of IP can be used (if needed). That allows many many more IP address because the world is running out of them.
