xbox 360 mce cant view jpg files

Hey

Im having issues with my xbox 360 acting as an extender for my vista based MCE machine.

My first issue was that MCE running under vista couldnt display all the pictures and videos I had stored - it would just see the foldername but not pick up any of the contents within the folder. This was corrected by explicitly setting the file types in the registry for jpg's, mpegs, avi etc as apparently my nero installation may have hijacked these.

After fiddling around with the registry I could then see all the file types and could actually access all my files within media centre running on my vista based PC.

The problem I'm having is that through the extender on my xbox 360 I can now see all these same picture and video files, but jpg's refuse to work through the extender - I can only get to see the picture files through the extender if I rename the file extension from .jpg to .gif so it seems as though the 360 will only view picture files for now if they carry a .gif extension - again through my pc this is all working fine now.

Ive tried deleting the extender from my pc and starting fresh after I had applied the registry settings on my pc to get its media centre to run correctly - im assuming here once media centre on your pc is able to see these files then so should the extender (not play the files but just see them) but this is not the case.

Any ideas? perhaps from others that also had nero causing issues initially with the way media centre was working for them?

Re: xbox 360 mce cant view jpg files

Just a follow up

I fixed the issue by totoally delelting my exisiting registry key set for .jpg and then re adding the deafult reg keys back for this - i had some other stuff in the jpg reg key that wasnt present in my gif reg key which seemd to be preventing the extender from seeing the pictures - though the funny thing was it was all working correctly using MCE on vista, just not on the extender so it seems the extender handles things a little differently.
