Hi all, i have a mate who bought a Sharp Aquos today and its not playing at 1080i (or p for that matter) He is using the cables supplied with the Xbox and on HDTV. It will run at 420 (of course) but not any higher. Its connected by Component.
I was thinking a dashboard update might fix the trick as there hasnt been one for a while?
The biggest problem is i think the TV needs to run at 50hz but i cant owrk out how to change it from 60 hz.
its a 37 inch if that helps?

1080i should work fine over component for the Sharp Aquos - I've a friend running this now. Make sure it is connected to the correct Component input - not all of them support HD signalling (dependant on the model). All Aquos LCD televisions support 50Hz and 60Hz input so it'll be something else at fault.
You may get better results with a 360 VGA cable, however when I took my 360 in to test different displays using VGA some worked and some didn't - the Aquos' from memory worked but it's better to check.
Best bet is to use HDMI if your friend's 360 supports it.
Regards,
Shane.

G'day,
There is a sliding switch on the component cable next to the xbox360 input that changes from SD to HD. It is on SD (480) by default. I had the same problem.
BTW, I have the new arcade and the just released "Pro" version (with hdmi) and it has
50hz in 720p, 1080i, 1080p.

Doh! If that's the answer I'll smack myself (as I should have thought of that myself as first step to check)
Regards,
Shane.

Does it do 50Hz via component?
Does anyone know when M$ are going to release a fix/patch for 50Hz. I have noticed that when viewing some divx content via the media blade the output changes to 50Hz - so if it's possible why don't they implement it??????
