Re: xbox 360 red rting returns, how long does it take ?
Speaking from experience with Myers Sydney CBD, it took approx 20 minutes on the phone with Microsoft to get a return authorisation number (or whatever they called it), and then 10 minutes actually processing the exchange....

All depends on where you bought it, If you purchased an extended waranty from the store you should be able to walk in and out. However if you bought it more than 30 days ago the store does not have any obligation to replace it for you, the waranty is under Microsoft - 3 years for RRD- So you will have to call Microsoft, they will give you a reference number, e-mail you a postage sticker, you print it out, post your 360 only (no hard drive, face plate, etc), then you should have it back within 7 days. I had mine back in about 4 Days after getting the e-mail saying they had receivied it.

Thatd be it, but depending on the issue you might, I got the same one sent back to me. Write down the serial number before you post it off. Like I said only took 4 days from when they received it.

I bought mine second hand and got the RROD, rang microsoft and due to them extending the standard warranty time all Australian XBOX 360s are still under warranty so boxed it up sent it away to local microsoft service centre and had it (same one) sent back within about four days easy as that with no cost to me.
Re: xbox 360 red rting returns, how long does it take ?
Well mine got sent off today 4/2/08 at around mid day, I dont expect it to be back as fast as some have mentioned here because I am in regional queensland where it seems yo uhave to add several weeks to any delivery extimate :/
but I will reply when it comes back and report on the fix.
Re: xbox 360 red rting returns, how long does it take ?
NOTE: Just because the 360 has the same serial number doesn't mean it's the same hardware inside. I believe they just remove the external case and replace the guts of the 360 and send it back. They then repair the issue on the hardware and use it for other 360s sent in.
Or at least that my guess as my 360 sounded quite a bit different when I got it back (quieter) and I'm sure it has a different DVD drive as well.
Mind you I'm just about to send it off again as I now can't get any picture out of it :-( (I still get sound).
