xbox360 defaulting to public network

hi,

i installed the fall update over the weekend to play divx and i'm stoked at how its played everything i've tried, only thing is i have an issue with keeping media sharing on which is required to make it work.

with my setup, my xbox is connected directly to my MC PC and uses ICS (internet connection sharing) to access the internet. every time i turn the xbox on, the MC PC sets up the connection to it as an unidentified public network, and that (because media sharing doesnt like public networks) then turns off media sharing. that in turn means that i have to manually change the network back to private and reactivate media sharing to be able to watch divx movies on the xbox, and when i do that, that in turn seems to stuff the settings the xbox likes to regularly connect to media centre such that i need to re-add the extender for it connect.

in short, with my xbox360 connected directly to the MC PC, i cant seem to work out how to get media centre and media sharing/divx to both work at the same time.

1) does anyone know what i can do to fix this with the current way my xbox360 is connected (ie straight to the MC PC).

2) if i reconnect my xbox360 to go via my router, should this fix the problem straight away?
