    Re: Where is Emerald???

Don't forget the time differences between here and the US. If it is to be released today I wouldn't expect to see if before either really late tonight or early tommorow morning. But it's a big if as I don't believe MS has confirmed the release date.

    Cheers

    Matt.

    Re: Where is Emerald???

    Everyone is so desperate...

The 12th was only a rumour - Microsoft never states releases until after event...

And as Matt has said - its still the 11th in Redmond. Midnight in the state of Washington does not occur until 5pm Melbourne / Sydney time today... So if your that desperate try after then... but seriously who is going to release something at that time...

Your better of trying tomorrow, or Monday or Tuesday... If at all....

And then there was the dates of September this year...

All rumours - nothing of substance... Probably awaiting for the main man to sign off on it, but he could be out eating hamburgers...

Do not trust the Microsoft ********(self censoring here). I better switch my automatic update off incase the update upsets my mce. It is working well after a lot of trouble in the beginning. I am happy how it works.

Hey bella, valid point. But are computer nerds ever happy? I am currently setting up three computers erving media all around house, caller ID is functional and s3 resume is working. Soon I might have HDTV and other goodings. I will play until I die, never quite happy

Never was a truer word spoken. Its like some disease that you spend a lot of money trying to cure.

    Re: Where is Emerald???

I've been awaiting the 'Emerald' release as well...

Noticed this on the NZ Microsoft site... http://www.microsoft.com/nz/events/m...w/default.aspx

    Media Center Road Show

This road show is to introduce Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition roll-up 2 and the new Start Something consumer campaign to our System Builder Technical and Retail Sales partners.

This show starts on the 15th of August... so certainly seems to indicate that the 14th was the day but it got held back for some reason... given this training though it can't be too far away!

Someone in Denmark has also raised the date of 2nd of September, stating that it is when a Danish version goes on sale - which is one of the locale additions in Rollup 2...

So given this... it should be out in the next 2 weeks... any other takers?

If there is an announcement with a date you can check here to find the current time and date in Redmond.

    http://www.timetemperature.com/tzwa/redmond.shtml

And here is a search page at microsoft for all patches and updates for MCE.

    Re: Where is Emerald???

Hmm... Microsoft never officially communicate release dates of patches to the public because release dates have a tendancy to slip sometimes. Anything that is communicated to System Builders or retailers is done so under NDA. It's sort of an "ignorance is bliss" philosophy... if the public doesn't know something is coming, they don't get dissappointed when it takes a while longer to arrive.

Basically what I am saying is my official response as to when MCE roll-up 2 will be released is still "soon". Yes there is a roll-up coming, and I'm sorry I can't say any more (what it will contain etc), because like the retailers and system builders I too am under NDA. Touchy subject, and although lots of you send me PM's asking what's going on... please respect the fact that I happen to like my job and will only ever communicate information to you when I know it is public, as much as I like you all

In the meantime, continue to enjoy MCE, and rest assured MS is doing everything we can to constantly improve your experience.
