Reputation earned: 10 pointsHow the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
Mate-- bit confused ---am get high pitched sound out of speakers (i think nvidia codec problem) and I have exceeded the 30 day trial period on the Nvidia DVD Decoder and now I get a blue screen saying Video Error needed to restart Media Centre.
Go to nvidia site and they keep saying that it is down waiting for enhancement of the purchase area--- and it says in the meantime enjoy the DVD Decoder---my meantime seems to have run out.
I uninstalled the nvidia dvd software etc and rebooted computer---went regedit deleted everything in registry from Nvidia and download new trial decoder ---still won't work----I was trying to trick computer into new trial period.
a little perplexed

Re: How the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
Its been like that for ages. YOu'd think they'd setup an email address you could emial to arrange buying it. Crazy.
Maybe you could use Power DVD or something similar. I use the decoder that comes with the Fusion drivers.

Re: How the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
Altech use the codec in their systems. They won't sell it to me.
I also considered buying a video card, but the codec is not included in the package. Great product; free for 30 days then unobtainable!

Re: How the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
Hey ancall
Dont feel too bad. Scan havent replied to my emails either - and I'm a bloody POM well versed in the local dialect !!!! Whats the world coming to ?
I told them that there were a few prospective punters here in Aus; eager to part with cash. Sometimes you just cant give money away ?!?!?
Hands up if you want to chip in a couple of dollars and go for a hostile takeover of Nvidia Corp. New resolution to include only selling to Australia !!!!!

Re: How the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
Impact
Thanks for that.
For what its worth I have emailed the editor of the article just in case he can reach ears that we can't.
I dont expect him to get past line 2 before the email hits his delete folder.
Anyway - in 10 days time nvidia lose a sale and I join the power dvd 6 brigade. It sucks a bit because I really dont like fiddling with a set up that works well - anyway s**t happens.

Re: How the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
luckily I have a credit card with a UK address (I'm an ex-pat pom) so if it's software only I'm sure we could work out a solution to order licence codes for those who need.....Originally Posted by ancall
If the decoder download / licence key or is it a physical shipment - the product page doesn't mention but there is a shipping charge on the checkout - so we'd have to forward ship from the UK.
Aaaargh. does it have to be this hard ?!

Re: How the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
Mate - thats a nice gesture (I too am expat but without any UK bank credentials). I wouldnt want things to start getting all complicated and messy for you though.
Like yourself - I would have assumed the issuing of a key would be sufficient. I am not sure why the shipping is required??
Funnily enough I have just had a reply from the editor of the article - who knows where this may end up (not that I am raising any hopes). See below for email:

Re: How the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
FYI - I have had a reply back from Brian Burke (???) at Nvidia letting me know that he is investigating our difficulties in purchasing decoder products.
Interpret that as you will.

Re: How the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
I worked for more then 4 years for Mastercard Australia. I have never heard about companies not being able to process Aussie credit cards. This is not only unbelievable but has to do with ignorance and arrogance. I often use my credit card for overseas purchases without any problems, then a company that gets involved with a worldwide thing like MCE cannot process your cc card? For that reason alone I am not using Nvidia! Also the problems with their website tells me something else about this company.![]()

Re: How the hell do i purchase Nvidia DVD decoder
I totally agree with you.
Unfortunately the product is doing a good job for me and I am reticent to change - otherwise I would dump them and run. As it stands I may have to do that anyway.
