Movie playing

Hello i am having trouble with playing DVD and movies. The picture is not really smooth. I thought it was due to the amount of ram i had, but i got another stick of 1g ddr2 and it didnt make much difference. Im not sure if it could be my video card. I am only using the on board nividea 6050, i have the ram set at 256mb. The rest of this system is follows.

AMD 4000+
Asus M2NPV-vm motherboard
2g DDR2 Ram
250G Hard drive,

Cheers
Chris
