Yes, your issue is that you have embedded cover art. VMC will create low res thumbnails from embedded art, regardless of the image resolution.. It appears as though VMC uses embedded art first, then alternate options.
So if you want the higher res files ... you will need to remove the embedded images.
Well, after spending 3 days finding high res art and copying, renaming into each of the music folders, I still have low res art in Vista MCE. The scan log was successful for the majority of folders, I have no idea why those that did not work, didn't work. All images we renammed to folder (500x500), and all were jpg files. I copiy and pasted the file name on each image to ensure there were no mistakes typing.
Any way I have followed the steps regarding deleting old library images, but alas, still have low res art after running this program.
I would really appreciate some help on this, low res art really annoys me.
The really annoying part about all this is that the library caches all had the high res art 500x500. Do I need to rescan the library??
I have done some more testing, but still have not had any luck.
I have used a tag editor to change the embedded 200x200 image to the 500x500, then run the Art Fixer, but still get 200x200 in VMC.
Can someone please point me in the right direction for a noob step by step guide to get this working. I am pretty frustrated right now, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
I've just downloaded it and give it a try later on this evening.
I really hope it'll finally solve the issues I'm having with my VMC Album Art showing the Album Art only for the first track, while showing the 'musical symbol' for the rest of the tracks...
I never thought I would say this to such an active community of users, but ... is there no-one out there who can help? It has been over 2 weeks since my first post, I would have thought that someone could be bothered to help in that time.
I have just deleted my rant about this topic, so hopefully someone who knows a bit more about the topic will help. Maybe the OP will offer some advice

Sorry I can't help you out mate, but hopefully after we've 'revived' this thread, someone might be able to help.
Just an update, I've used the Album Art Fix a few days ago and it works like a CHARM!
Well, I thought I may as well update you all on the progress of this situation. I have used Tag & Rename to remove all tags from my entire music folder. It took ages, but eventually got there. I then ran the VMC Hi Res Fixer 1.5, out of the 200+ albums I have only found 1 which got hi res art. 1 is better than nothing, however I think the tag program has stuffed up the library, some albums now appear as 2 CD's, first cd with all but 1 track, then the other track by itself as a new album. Grrrrrrrrr.
Anyway, I am just about ready to nuke the whole library and re import as new MP3's. I plan to use iTunes for the rip. Can someone please let me know what chance of success I have, or if there may be another way to do this.
Well, thanks for nothing. I won't be recommending this site to anyone else. I had hoped to solve this issue with a little help from people who have got it to work. So much for 'media centre community', more like 'media centre, your on your own'
I downloaded and unzipped the file on a different PC, which for some reason maps the location of the files it will replace during the unpack. The program will not remap the directory path if you copy and paste the extracted file to another PC.
So ... place the compressed file on the PC you want to change the art on, extract it and then run it.
Having said all that, there are still albums that do not have the new art, however I am using Windows 7 64bit now, (not the beta or RC, final version), so am kind of expecting a few issues.
All in all, there could have been a better explanaton of this important step in the original post.
It is unfortunate that you have had so much trouble with my application.
Ranting at the people you are asking for help does not do much for your cause either, we all do this for free and we might either not be around or not have the answers to your questions.

That said, yes, my application is designed to be run on the PC that the Media Centre is on.
Regarding Windows 7, I have a test machine for general use but have yet to test the Media Centre in detail and how it handles Cover Art, if it is broken like VMC I will update my application to handle Windows 7.
I will be upgrading my HTPC once Windows 7 is released on Oct 22.
