I hear many are struggling to retain ice guide settings in vista rc2.i have a working ice guide for a while now in vista rc2.the fix was to turn off automatic updates.
Vista MCE regularly rewrites the discovery service registry key thus erasing ice guide reg info. This happens once a day when the mcupdate.exe scheduled task runs. Disabling windows update i assume would stop this from occuring and retain ice guide reg settings.also too i have installed keep key utility from the downloads section here.

Hmm, I installed the keep key utility, and it works a treat, but I wonder, what if you turn off the optimisation in MCE?
Mrs Nigel here.
A couple of q's re this issue
1. How do I turn off automatic update?
2. How did you get keepKey to work?
3. Niall, I'm working with your fix now, but not getting far. Could you send me instuctions for a complete learner please.
Thanks guys.

Hi -
for 3. you just need to unzip this file - and double click on the included .reg file so that it is placed in your registry. (before you have installed icetv or whatever guide solution you are using on Vista).
in theory - if this works - 1. and 2. (and any of the other suggested workarounds) will not be required at all..
