Re: I Have a working Vista/BRP/EPG system!!

Hi Guys,

I think I am pretty close to mine working. I am using BRP 3 and OzTivo Extreme. I have modified the two HTML files as Pete mentioned earlier, I have OzTivo downloading a file xmltv.xml to the guidedata folder, I run a postprocess batch file that renames this file to listing2.xml. The guide.bin creates successfully and bladerunner exits with no errors. In MCE I try to import the guide, it connects successfully to the net (after a discSvc mod) and begins downloading the guide, then it seems to stop. I get an error in the event log:

- Event Info ERROR: SqmApiWrapper: SqmFlushSessionFailed

Any ideas?

Doh, fixed it. Always the way straight after you post a question. Deleted the channelinfo.xml and created a new one. After that, all good news.

Hey Justin

Can you post your steps as to how you achieved this as I am hoping to use BRP and OzTivoExtreme for my solution??

Cheers

Re: I Have a working Vista/BRP/EPG system!!

Hi All,

I have just added to the Vista EPG download section a set of files to enable quick configuration of Bladerunner Pro v3 with OzTiVoExtreme.

Essentially there are two parts to setting up the giude:
1. Getting BRP working - This should now be simplified by using the "BRPv3+OzTiVoExtreme Config.ZIP" files
2. Getting MCE to use BPR

There is still a few manual steps required which i have outlined below, but hopefully this should help simplify things for those of you havent yet got the Guide up and running.

Install .Net v1.1
Install .Net v1.1 SP1
Instal Bladerunner Pro v3
Start -> All Programs -> BladeRunner Pro, Right Click Bladerunner Pro select Properties
Click Compatibility Tab, Tick Run this program as an Administrator. Click O.k.
Unzip BRPv3+OzTiVoExtreme Config.zip to BladerunnerPro folder - Replace files.
Run BRP to check it completes.
Start -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off
Enable Internet.Information Services by clicking box. Click o.k
Start -> Control Panel -> Classic View -> Administrtaive Tools -> IIS
On Left browse web Sites to: Default Web Site
Right Click Default Web Site -> Advanced Settings:
Physical Path = C:\Windows\ehome\BladeRunnerPro
Start -> Run -> type: c:\windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v2.0.50727\Inst allUtil.exe c:\windows\ehome\bladerunnerpro\keepkey.exe
Start -> Run -> type: net stop keepkey
Start media center config, use AUSTRALIA as your region, click next etc. until you get the enter postcode screen.
Start -> Run -> type: regedit
Check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media Center\Service\EPG\discSvc
discSvc = http://localhost/Native/GetTVServicesMetaInfo.html
Start -> Run -> type: net start keepkey
Return to MCE and complete the rest of your setup.

Note: The BRP config files include a ChannelInfo.XML file for Sydney. This will need to be changed for other regions. Change the ChannelID name to match the \GuideData\xmltv.xml ID's

Thanks to Tyronne27, FaberFox, PeteTheGeek and everyone else for all your inputs.

Has anyone manged to get a workng HD solution yet?

Re: I Have a working Vista/BRP/EPG system!!

Hi Magz,

I've followed your guide and almost have it working. However after I enter my postcode in and try to download the guide listings I get this error:

Quote:
Headend Service: Unexpected error. Code: 42
In Event viewer I get this:

Quote:

My GetHeadendList.html file looks like this:

</Providers>
I have an analog TV card, not sure if it makes a difference. I'm thining it might be similar to the problems Free*EPG were having in http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...-problems.html

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Antonio

Re: I Have a working Vista/BRP/EPG system!!

Hi Antonio,

I haven’t seen this error code before.
I suspect that if you are getting errors in MCE then it could be to do with your setup of the MCE Guide services (IIS & DiscSvc)

Can you check the below steps first:
1. Run Bladerunner and check it completes without any errors.
2. Check your \GuideData\Guide.BIN to check it is of a reasonable file size ~50KB+
If these two steps complete Bladerunner should be doing its thang.

I dont think your Tuner card should make a difference.

Re: I Have a working Vista/BRP/EPG system!!

Woohoo!

I found out what it was. I didn't have my config under the root IIS folder (ie. http://localhost/Native....). I had it as http://localhost/Tvguide/... and I thought I changed all references to the right folder name but I didn't.

I forgot to edit this line in GetTVServicesMetaInfo.html:
<Service name="EPGService" defaultScheme="http" serverName="localhost" serverPort="80" hostName="localhost" hostPort="localhost" path="TvGuide/Native">

I actually found this out by using quite a cool new tracing tool in IIS - the failed request tracing tool. I ran it, and straight away it gives me an entire logfile of what was failing, and what URL was being accessed. That is a GREAT addition to IIS 7.

This site is handy for understanding guide errors:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/articles/490466.aspx

I think I may have run into that when it couldn't find GetTVServicesMetaInfo.html.

If you enabled the IIS failed request tracer thing as I mentioned above that might help you troubleshoot what web page Media Centre is trying to access

Administrative Tools > IIS Manager (not IIS 6 Manager) > Default Web Site > Actions Pane on the right-hand side > Advanced Settings > Failed Request Tracing
