Commercial Software to Edit DVR-MS files?

Is there any commercial software that I can buy out there that has some ablility to edit dvr-ms files (i.e. take out the commercials) and then burn them to dvd. I have tried using the free edtors that do this and then convert those output to mpg or leave them in dvr-ms format but MCE and other programs are unable to burn the outputs of the DVR-ms or the mpegs to dvd without stopping at certain points. Those softwares do usually however play the output file perfectly but I would really like to know if there a commerical application that can do this all for me because I don't really care about the cost I just want something that is designed for this and can actually do it.

Thanks in advance,
Jason

Re: Commercial Software to Edit DVR-MS files?

Nerovision Express 3, supposed to be able to do it.

The standalone DVR-MS editor from the microsoft article "Fun With DVR-MS"

DVREdit from TGB

Demux and remux file to MPEG with Graphedit, use cuttermaran

DCut looks promising but won't work on my system.

There are more than a few.

(Sorry only one payware option in there)

Re: Commercial Software to Edit DVR-MS files?

have you heard anything about arcsoft showbiz I read somewhere that that is suppose to work as well. Or is it only on versions of the software that comes with MCE computers?

Jason

I am downloading the demo right now but won't know for a while as I have a 56K... sucks living out in the middle of no where.

Now that looks really cool and just the kind of easy utility that I'd use.

Two questions:

Can you decide where to put the compressed files after processing or does it dump them in the default dir?

How much is it? - I don't want to have to fill in (offsite) forms before I can see the cost price - DOH! - why do people do that!

It does look cute.... and I also hate those register before we send you any detail websites too....

Wonder how well it works with our aussie digital files, or even better something that has been edited... or even better still hopefully it works well and they might include editing - so its a one stop shop...

hmmm.....

Mike - FYI - Just went thru the screens.... its $19.95 USD and there appears to be no demo - you have to buy it... Again without knowing how well it works, and whether it is for me - I doubt they are getting any money from me!!!

Hi, Mike,

By default their installer propose My Videos folder, but you can choose another destination.
Now it costs 20 USD, but they are planning to put Pro version on the site. It will convert dvr-ms to avi.

Hi,
I convert my files with Good quality settings. WMV file is perfect and its size is about 7 times smaller.

Re: Commercial Software to Edit DVR-MS files?

Alysca -
Are you using it with recorded tv from a digital or analogue tuner card?
Does it handle 16 * 9 without stuffing up aspect ratios?
Have you tried compressing something that you may have edited?
My Videos sucks in my opinion, anything that is compressed that originated from a TV broadcast should be left alone in the My TV section - but it sounds as that is configurable...

FYI - I have emailed the developer, saying the model of $20 upfront for a product sight unseen is not a great business model... and invited him here to tell everyone about the product, and hopefully get some answers maybe about how well it works with PAL broadcasts...
