Add channel logos to guide
Came across a cool app that adds channel logos to the guide beside the channel number (7MC only). I tried it last night and it worked a treat. The program is called “My Channel Logos” and is available for download HERE. There's a forum about it HERE and Australian channel logos are available HERE (a very useful resource as they have heaps of international logos). Logo's are also available HERE which are specifically for the Harmony range of remotes but they could be used in the guide too. If you want you can create your own logos and details are in the forum noted above. Enjoy

Re: Add channel logos to guide
Isn't it amazing how many little things go together to make a great MCE experience and how many of these Microsoft didn't think of. This sort of stuff should happen as a matter of course when channels are selected not by having to use a utility. Luckily as you say the util is very easy to use so no great drama.

Not that I've found, this doesn't even work with VMC & TV pack installed. Not sure if the developer is open to suggestions along these lines but you could always try.Anything simular for VMC?

Re: Add channel logos to guide
It's not possibly for Vista (or TV Pack). TV Pack has encryption on the database, and Vista doesn't have the functionality.

Re: Add channel logos to guide
Do you really think it is that simple!
It is unlikely that they have gone about this for years and not thought about it! I have read requests for such a thing at TGB since XP2K5. Its sort of a natural thing to want in such a system. Logos are much easier to distinguishg than endless text(especially in regiosn with buttloads of FTA channels)
For MS to contemplate implementing this, theyd need to go through licensing/permission for each applicable nation from each respective broadcaster. Its just way too much trouble when a third party proggie can do it and not suffer the likelihood of being harassed for it by networks.
Now we need someone to make those ONE LOGOSIm not using W7 outside a testing capacity, so wont really be fussed until it becomes my fulltime mce rig post RTM

Re: Add channel logos to guide
"One" logos are available on the harmony site I linked to on the first post, these logo's work well and are high quality, they would work especially well I suspect on the black theme. Now we need someone to make those ONE LOGOS
I didn't say it would be simple, however, it can't be that hard when a tiny prog can do it. I'm talking functionality, I wouldn't expect MS to supply the logos, I understand copyright issues and the potential difficulty in getting permissions from all the rights holders, however, I would expect that they consider giving us the function to implement and attach the logos for those who want to, no licencing problems for them to do that.Do you really think it is that simple!

Re: Add channel logos to guide
Well, obviously the functionality is there... maybe there were reasons why they didn't actually expose it yet (and may have intended to in the future). This is a beta product remember, all functionality might not be switched on.
In any event, there is also a link to some logos in Niall's BSE beta testing thread (2nd post down). The package includes logo's for the OneHD and OneSD channels.

Re: Add channel logos to guide
MS is listening
True Mike the community has provided the functionality and I'm grateful for all the wonderful work that has been achieved. I'd never have been able to get 4 tuners working in MCE2005 if not for someone in the community figuring out how to do it, nor would I have achieved half as much as I have over the years without the support of others within this and other MCE forum communities. It would just be nice if a lot of this functionality were built in and easy to access so we'd not have to spend so much time trawling around to find addins, utilities and the like to supplement the main program when trying to get the "experience" just right. Anyhow, enough winging, the logo util works great and Mike congrats to you and the team on Win7 MCE it looks great too and I can't wait for the final release so I can finally move on from 2005. Thanks for listening, Cheers.
