Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 / 7 Launcher in MCE for Vista/Win7
Hi All,
I just created my first MCE app and installer.
I was looking for something that would launch PowerDVD from MCE.
Yes there are a few app's that do this already .... except I think mine is better ;P
+ it is UAC Windows Vista/7/x86/x64 compatible
Steps:
1) Extract MceCyberlinkPowerDvdVersion1.zip to Program Files
2) Run Installer.exe - adjust settings if you want or just click Install
3) Launch MCE - Go To Progam Library and click Blue Ray icon
4) Notice PowerDVD launches full screen and MCE closes.
5) Close PowerDVD, see MCE returns back.
6) Uninstall - Run Installer.exe and click Select File and Unistall
7) Select the appInstall.xml file in the MceCyberlinkPowerDvd directory and it will be removed from MCE.
8) Delete the MceCyberlinkPowerDvd folder.
Cyberlink 8 MCE Skin.zip
Remove the .zip part off the 3 rar files and extract the dll file (1 file put into a rar file split over 3).
put this dll to your cyberlink power dvd 8 skins folder. launch powerdvd and select the skin. This will give PowerDVD a nice blue MCE compatible look - instead of RED!
Want to tweak / you get error about not finding the handle when launching PowerDVD?
Try adjusting the RunApp.ini CloseMCEDelay property
If the delay is too short - PowerDVD will not Maximize, so adjust higher.
This work was based from a lot of sources and reading... so thanks to the web and people.
If you find my app useful, a simple thanks is all I ask
Note: Main bug I addressed that other launchers did not in Windows 7 was PowerDVD not properly maximizing. ie, taskbar still showed. The delay part is what fixes that problem.

I like the skin very much. Thank you. I haven't tried the app yet.

Not really sure what the point of this is. When I insert a BluRay disc into my drive, the "Play DVD" message appears on the screen and when I select it, PowerDVD launches.
Also, if there's a BluRay disc in the drive and I select Play DVD from the WMC menu, PowerDVD launches.

I'm adding multimonitor support and "back" button support within powerdvd to return to MCE.
In Window 7 - there was a bug with PowerDVD where fullscreen would not be fullscreen because of the taskbar... ie taskbar showed... this why I created this app...
To be honest, I'm having a bit of a play around with programming![]()

A New Version!
Version 1.1
- To install just extract to existing folder overwritting existing files
*New*
- Multimonitor support
- Close PowerDVD on [Back] from remote or keyboard and return to MCE
- Rewrote how to find and work with PowerDVD and MCE
- RunApp now polls PowerDVD instead of trying to guess when it should be there.
All settings and doc info can be found in the RunApp.ini file.
Note: you need to delete the ".zip" part as it is really a rar file. (had to do this as I can only upload zips)

Hi Kane,
download seems to be corrupted - will not open zip file.
Just checked - it is in fact a rar file. you need to delete the .zip at the end of the file name and then it will open in WinRAR.

Note: Added to the post to rename to .zip
WinRar doesnt care it opens it up and detects that it is a rar, ignoring the .zip

On my work machine, so zip is the default. Thought I'd try it in RAR and lo, there was a file to extract!
Let you know how I go with your proggy tonight.

Re: Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 / 7 Launcher in MCE for Vista/Win7
Some feedback for you:
1. When you install the file it should by default copy the folder contents to the program files directory - it's where all other programs go - rather than register the files from where they are installed. ie: I installed from my D drive, but those files are transient, so I ended up moving the files to the c:\program files folder before installing.
2. It might be an idea to simplify the location in the 7MC where the plugin is installed. I got confused, so I can only image what less technically minded people might think
Also, when I ran the plugin (auto insert) it threw an error - "Failed to Maximise Window - HandleId: 0"
Basically PowerDVD did not go full screen. When i clicked OK in the error dialogue box it returned me to 7MC, and it did not close PowerDVD.
FYI - I am running version 8 of PowerDVD.

Re: Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 / 7 Launcher in MCE for Vista/Win7
Well what do you know - it started working (when run from "Play DVD"menu). Loads up PowerDVD in full screen.
Is there anyway to make the DVD auto play? I found that PowerDVD just loads, but doesn't appear to do anything. I then have to press play to run the dvd. Auto play would be nice
Using the back button or stop button works well. I prefer your plug in over my movies which is too big and cumbersome.
A bit of tweaking and I reckon you are all most there![]()

Re: Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 / 7 Launcher in MCE for Vista/Win7
^Autoplay will be a lot harder... I will have a look.
As for the "Failed to Maximise Window"
you can adjust this in the RunApp.ini file - ie increase time before calling Maximize
As for install... well I think it is simple to extract and run..... simple app so no proper installer at this stage.

Re: Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 / 7 Launcher in MCE for Vista/Win7
*New Version 1.2.2*
This version has new autoplay options to configure so that it will work with daemon tool and my movies.
I suggest you set the preference drive for autoplay using the ConfigTool and either select
"always use preferred drive" or play around with the delay options..... daemon tools and my movies was always compatible... sort of ..... the problem was daemon tools was taking too long to load the disc? well that is what I think the problem is as I manage to play off an iso using this plugin and daemon tools.
