3rd Party MCML interface for My Movies
this thread has 9 replies and has been viewed 1506 times
Have you given it a test run yet dgaust?? I am very interested because my movies a damn good program but it just looks like crap and doesn't fit in that well with Vista. I thought they would of had a updated version of it by know so it would use hi res thumbnails etc. This plugin looks promising. Let us know if you have tried it out.
Nah, I don't have My Movies installed, just found it and I know that a lot of people still use it and want an MCML interface.
Personally, I find the My Movies database to be a complete mess with a thousand different entries for popular movies, every one with different information that should stay the same no matter what the cut (i.e. Actors, Director, Year).
Has anyone had any luck running this application? Each time I try to save the settings from the Configuration page it comes up with the error message that the program has stopped responding and shuts down. I have Version 2.49 of MyMovies installed and am entering the IP address of the server - is that right?? Thanks...
I'm using the MCE VideoBrowser for displaying series information as well as information about the movies. The plugin using the output of the MyMovies application... I am only running MCE VideoBrowser on my HTPC and using a different computer for managing the movie information (the movies are on a shared disk) http://www.samsaffron.com/downloads/1
(I'm using one of the proposed tools on the samsaffron.com page for retrieval of series information - TV Scout - that also is executed from my non-HTPC desktop)
I contacted the developer and he is aware of the problem. He will look into it for us and hopefully get back to us with a fix soon. I'll keep you all updated.
I still haven't heard anything from the developer but while waiting I did a bit more looking and found another interface called Open Media Library (OML). Installed it last night - basically still using MyMovies for the collection of Movies, Covers etc and can then import that database into OML and use it from within Media Centre. It has a really nice interface and definetely worth a look.
You can download it from: code.google.com/p/open-media-library/
Cheers
