myMounter

I've seen a few posts from people wanting to mount .iso files through the VMC interface and the only program that I've found to do it was MyMovies which isn't that pretty at the moment.

However, I recently found a couple of new TV plugins and the developer of one of these has provided an MCML solution to mount ISO files including image covers. It uses daemon tools so you must have it installed, but if you want to mount ISOs through the VMC interface this may be the way to go.

You can check it out here.

The developer has also created a tv plugin, but this is a commercial product and not available for free download.

Have you used the TV app here as it looks very good. I know there are other apps out there doing the same but this looks like it works as an all in one and not needing another app in conjunction with it.

Re: myMounter

Yep, I'm using it. It is very good, even though it's a pre-beta. There might be a public trial version out in a couple of days though.

Uses an SQL server to keep track of episodes, so you can store it on your WHS and access it from any system in the house. It also downloads the series info directly from thetvdb.com including banners and series graphics so it's all seamless.

It's a pretty well thought out app.

Re: myMounter

Is it along the same lines as the TV Library discussed in this sub-forum?? I have looked to install that at some point but it seems to need to use another app for collecting info and both seem to have a few issues.

I take it this does it all in one??

Re: myMounter

It's a couple of different applications/services, but they all work together without any intervention.

First you need to install SQLExpress 2005 and SP2, as this is needed so it can store all the information on series/episodes/artwork. If you already have myMovies installed, you can just use the version of SQLExpress that is installed when you install that.

When you install the app, it installs two programs. The MCML application, and the myTVservice. The myTVservice is what grabs the information from tvdb.com and monitors the folders for new episodes.

Through the MCML application you have to add watched folders, these are different to the ones watched by VMC. Once you have done that it will monitor those folders and automatically add new episodes to the database.

It grabs series information from the first folder, so if for instance you have a folder called scrubs in the monitored folder it will ask you to match the folder scrubs against the series from thetvdb.com.

Once you've done that anything in that folder is considered to be a scrubs episode (provided it is a video, I know it works for .avi and .mkv at the very least) and will add it to the database, grabbing the episode name, episode synopsis etc. It can accept a variety of naming conventions for files.

i.e scrubs.s01e04.the episode title, 1x4 - the episode title, or s1xe4 - the episode title will be parsed as Series 1, Episode 4 and the service will go the tvdb.com to download the information for that particular episode and insert it into the database.

You can have the files in any type of order under the original series folder (I have mine under series 1, seris 2 etc due to other apps) but this is transparent to the myTVservice.

It also monitors when an episode is watched and includes an unobtrusive tick on the episode thumbnail.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Helix skin that is shown on the home page and I use the banner skin that looks like the tvLibrary one.

The navigation is currently as follows

Show Banner
- Series DVD Cover
- Episodes in the series
It's the best TV management app I've found, and paid the $10 for the commercial license before I even tried it after reading what it could do. There are a few bugs with it at the moment, mainly a couple of graphical glitches but it's still less buggy than anything else I've found.

According to the developer, there is hopefully going to be a free trial of version 1 out before Christmas.

Re: myMounter

I can't get myMounter to work!
Once ive edited the settings.xml (ive checked over aplenty) and then when I try to use myMounter in VMC it just calls it an invalid application.

Re: myMounter

Doubt you're still trying diablo, but if anyone else comes across this forum, 2 things you need to note about this program:
  • If you can't seem to find the settings.xml file even though you've opened the program and it says it has been created, make sure you are checking for it in c:\programdata\sensit\mymounter, not c:\program files\sensit\mymounter where the program itself resides.

The programdata folder is hidden, so you can get to it by going to the Run prompt (windows key + r) and typing %programdata% and hitting enter.
  • If you get the 'invalid application' error when launching mymounter, make sure you have no folders in the path you have provided mymounter. You cannot have subfolders in mymounter directories. All your isos and jpgs must be all together in that folder.

So for example, if i chose the 'isos' folder (\\server\isos)in the settings file this is the WRONG way to have your isos (but the way we all seem to have it):
    \\server\isos\terminator\terminator.iso
    \\server\isos\the simpsons\season 2\simsponss2.iso

    The CORRECT way is:
    \\server\isos\terminator.iso
    \\server\isos\terminator.jpg
    \\server\isos\simpsonss2.iso
    \\server\isos\simpsonss2.jpg
