I want to change my TP-Link 8840 ADSL2+ router and wonder if there's an all in one ADSL2+ router with gigagit (wireless and/or VOIP would be icing on the cake but not essential) which will allow remote access with WHS. Has anyone got such a beast? The only ADSL2+ gigabit combo router I've read about is a Draytek V2820n, but it doesn't seem to come recommended and I don't think it's proven with WHS.
Alternatively, if people are using an ADSL2+ router plus gigabit switch and VOIP (I use Engin) AND can remote access with WHS, what router are you using?
My TP-Link 8840 has stopped talking to me (won't answer to 192.168.1.1) and I can't get it to reset

There is a list of routers that work sucessfully with WHS here - along with 6 pages of discussion on the topic

Thanks Bobodog. I have been through lists of WHS compliant routers a number of times, but haven't found one with ADSL2+ and gigabit (apart from the Draytek). Have I missed something?

Almost any router that lets you port forward will work with WHS.
It may not allow WHS to automatically configure but it, will still work all the time if you manually set the port forward on the router.
I've used used both a billion (manual) and a dlink 655(automatic). The dlink is a bit flaky with the automic handling but both routers work flawlessy with the port forwarding down manually.
I've looked some more and can't find a single mainstream ADSL2+ gigabit router.
So now for a different approach. I think I'll get a D-Link DIR 655 gigabit router (no modem) and a separate ADSL2+ modem. Am I right in understanding that any ADSL2+ modem in front of a router will be OK - remote desktop does not depend on the modem?
Bucket23 - any reason I shouldn't go with the DIR 655? Not too flaky I hope? I'm looking for the gigagit LAN as much as anything.

That's pretty much how I run it.... I use a DIR655 for wireless-n (and the fact I got a harmony one free), and a Netgear NBW9 for wireless-g and the inbuilt modem. The Netgear runs as the DHCP server, the DLINK as a switch.
While I run the network at 100mbits full duplex, everything just works, I haven't had to recycle the DIR-655 in the two or so months I've had it.

Thanks dgaust - does your DIR-655 autoconfigure for WHS remote access OK? What I don't understand is, do you need the modem/router (in your case the NBW9) to be WHS-compliant as well to get remote access? People at We Got Served list their DIR-655 as autoconfiguring and remote access-compliant - but they have to have something working as a modem as well, right, and they don't mention whether that is compliant or not . There's something I'm not getting I can tell
Sorry about my ignorance, but what does "recycle" mean here?
