Will WHS run regular XP/Vista software?

G'day guys,

At the moment I have a computer which is used only to run two small lcds and usb touchscreens along with a couple of small apps :

Touchbuddy http://www.touch-buddy.com/forums/fa...aster-faq.html

F4 Glass http://www.eagle9.nl/main/F4_Glass/d.../main/F4_Glass

These programs interact with my primary gaming computer over my wired network.

Since it doesn't really do anything else and I need a server for my media I'd like to install WHS on it.

Will WHS run ordinary software which runs on 98/2000/XP/Vista?

Thanks in advance,

Bear

Re: Will WHS run regular XP/Vista software?

Hi HuggyBear,

I believe the general answer would be no. WHS is based on server 2003 so is not generally compatable with 98/2000/XP/Vista software. similarly for most devices you need server 2003 drivers but have been told that some xp printer drivers work ok.

Craig.

Bear,

Have a look at the author's/vendors site for those items, see if they have a 2003 version and drivers or state that they are compatable before you give up. WHS is an excellent, inexpensive and trouble free bit of magic, most unlike MS stuff.

Craig.
