Built up a new computer and installed WHS on it, all works well except for remote access which I am having difficulties in getting it to work. According to the WAF, I have spent too F**** long, trying to get RDC working!
I tried opening ports 80, 443, & 4125 on my Billion 7404VGO router, however it won't take RDC or RDP. I got it to take with RWW however www.grc.com states that 4125 is blocked. I use iinet as my ISP, they state both via phone and email that port 4125 are open.

where xxxxx is the port you are testing. Its for uTorrent, but it will tell you if your port is open or not.
went to www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=4125 and it showed closed. On the router I tried adding utor5 and port 4125 to the helper app in virtual servers as per my other utorrent port forwards and the router wouldn't take it.
Would you concur that it looks like its the router is giving me problems. Can anyone think of any work arounds?
Regards
Robert

Reason: Clarification
You will find some help on which routers are working with WHS remote access and how to set the router up for remote access in this thread on the WGS WHS enthusiasts site - or on the associated blog there is an article on this topic

Have you checked that the port is open in Windows firewall (presuming you have it active)?
Which machine, on the server? yes it is open on the server

Reason: too quick off the mark!
Billion modem do not allow you to set up a forwarded port on port 4125 ....... at first!
Create the port forward first with 4124 - 4128 for External and the same for Internal and save. Then go back in and edit the ports to read 4125 - 4125. Stupid ... yeah.

When I read it back I thought you're going to be thinking "this guys having a lend of me!".
Mike as an long suffering ambo, I have an acute Bull**** sensor. Besides after all the grief that the WAF has given me over the last month about "you pay more attention to computers than to me" what's another 5 minutes.
However she said the same about the VMC, now I can't prize the remote from her hand.
Again, thanks for the help.

I'm in the same boat, i'm about ready to drop my router in a bucket of water!
I have a Billion 7402VGP w 5.60c firmware, I have a WHS with the latest patches fixes etc, and for the life of me I can't get the Remote Desktop (4125) to work.
I have tried every combination on the router; turned off the firewall, added packet filters, added port forwarding to the best of my ability and my interpretation of how to set it. I've read every post that there is and made a few of my own, asked Billion (forums and support direct) for help but have so far been given the cold shoulder. I've asked my ISP (Internode) if they block the port 4125, and told they do NOT block the ports.
I tried your suggestion above but I get nothing, I still get a timed out or refused depending on the firewall settings.
Just in case you have any lingering doubts, I have finally got remote access working fine and I am also an Internode customer - they must be getting used to our calls .
