All backed up, ready to go
Might change drives around this time & see if it runs any better, instead of balancing storage all the time when you want to use it.
I'm so excited! My warranty replacement power supply arrived yesterday and I spent the evening rebuilding my server. Even tried activating my old WHS installation which kept failing, I took that to be a sign.
Now 1hr to download and 6hrs more till I get home. This is going to be a very tedious day at work.
Heard RC was available by email this morning so upgraded the old rig with new bits I spoke about here, (got the Samsungs for $158!!) Downloaded RC & installed easily. So far all looks good, just finishing copying the last of my media files. Only minor issues were, MB install CD did not like operating system so had to install some of the drivers manually, others installed with the setup program, also when I used the connector Cd it would not find the server until I did a "manual" search, though there was nothing manual about it as I only supplied the server name. All easily resolved. Hope everyone has as smooth an installation.
One other thing, had to get a new key from connect when I tried to activate as it rejected the key I had used to install it (CTP key).

Reason: Update
I got the RC up and running last night. It went alot better than the CTP but I think those issues were mainly related to the DVD media.
The only curiosity I came across was when I went to install the RC it got up to the part where you specify the server name and when I tried to leave it as it had been it said that there was already a machine on the network with that name! It occurred to me that I had set up my WHS server name as a static DNS entry on my ADSL modem so I thought maybe the RC installation routine was somehow checking that. I removed the DNS entry and hey presto I could keep the old server name. Didn't even have to start the installation over again. I just added the DNS entry back in after everything was installed.
All's working ok, just going through that marvellous process we know and love of copying all the files back on!!
I have still not had any reply from MS in regard to obtaining the RC. Is there any way of getting my hands on this other than through connect. I filled in their survey but to no avail so far.

Rob.
I had a friend who got CTP on P2P - dont know how the whole product key thing goes... Have faith though, They are rolling out invitations gradually ove a few days I read.
Is there a rationale behind having the largest drive first?
Old school rules always said small O/S drive at the front with all the rest bringing up the rear. I assume if I add another large drive it wont be a big issue as the O/S will be able to absord this into a pool of disk space much like nix can handle disks?
Might need to do a bit of reading tonight watching the footy and drinking beer
