PC won't go to sleep under power plan

Sorry, guys - been a little busy these past two days! I completed a vanilla install of MST, didn't change any settings at all, and voila - sleep has returned to how it should be!
@woohoo - yes, I am an WHS user, however if I guess what your question might be, no, I don't set the machine to wake for backup. If that's where you're going with that question, I'm happy to give is a bash for the benefit of the community!

Now I know you're a WHS user you've got me envious . You've got all your media eg. music, on the server? If you play music, for instance, and the last track just ends (you don't intervene) - will it got to sleep?

@woohoo - yep, everything resides on WHS - although I haven't bothered with the Recorded TV archiving feature of the WHS plug-in for MCE yet though. I've enabled the 'Wake This Computer For Backup' JUST for you - will post back tomorrow (or Sunday) to let you know how that's worked out. As for the MCE sleeping after music's finished, can't say I've tried - again, it's still early days with the new version of MST. I'll give it a bash tomorrow and see what happens after an album finishes.
Okay - so with the WHS connector set to wake-up my MCE for backup, the machine has performed as it should; waking for backup (always interesting to see the WHS clients don't necessarily backup the same time every day, but that's a different discussion!) and sleeping again in 38 minutes time after successful backup and 30 minute timeout. The 8 minute backup time is normal on this machine as not much changes - only backing up the system drive and backing up across 802.11g connection. It appears the 0.9.098 version of MST is working as designed on my x64 install.

Thanks for the feedback Heyw00d. The only way at the moment I can get my machine to successfully go back to sleep after a backup is if I do a reboot last thing the night before. If I've been streaming media (TV, music) the night before (and then hit the stop button) it won't go back to sleep the next morning after backup
On MST, I noticed when I had it installed that my machine would go to sleep when I hit the "sleep/resume" button, even if it was recording TV at the time . But I'm not 100% certain it is MST-related. Are you seeing this on your setup?
woohoo - which version of MST are you running, have you tried v0.9.098? I had no success with auto sleeping with the MST versions previous to 0.9.098. I'm having no problems with sleep at all now. As to the other problem you're experiencing, what do you have your "When I press the power button" setting set to, and how about the sleep state in your BIOS? If I 'accidentally' hit sleep whilst MCE is recording, it turns off the display, but won't sleep until it's finished recording. If I happen to be playing music/watching TV it will sleep - not sure how it knows the difference, but it seems to work as desired for me.
I was using 0.9.098, but have uninstalled now. In fact, I'm going through a complete rebuild (due to a completely different problem). I'm hoping I can sort out a couple of sleep issues in the process.
And yes, I used to have it working just as you've described. Where have those days gone ??
this maybe related or help with sleep trouble shooting.
I recently uninstalled 'myTV' and all of the SQL bits and pieces for unrelated reasons.
A byproduct of this resulted in S3 sleep working really well.
I had put many hours into trying to fix S3 and pretty much decided to leave the PC running 24/7.
I cant explain it, but it works now

For the record, I have found all sorts of things can cause win7 not to sleep automatically. The main ones that seem to get people of course are drivers or the settings and in particular the one which allows the machine to sleep when sharing media in the control panel power applet. If they fail to fix the problem I tend to use msconfig to troubleshoot by disabling all startup apps and unnecessary services. If sleep then works correctly I gradually add them all back until I find the culprit. It isn't the only potential fix but it does seem to have worked in most cases for me.
Guys, I have read the last 2 pages of this discussion and am now confused, actually more confused.
When my laptop goes to sleep the hard drive stops. When my desktop goes to sleep the hard drive keeps running. I use the desktop to record TV with MCE.
Is it possible to set up TV recording, put the machine to sleep and have it wake up to record? If so, how do I achieve this?
I stress I m not a technical genius so a detailed response would be greatly appreciated.

When S3 sleep is working as it should, your machine should go to sleep, all fans and drives turn off.
It should go to sleep when you tell it to or there is no activity.
It should automatically wake to record or recieve updates, then go back to sleep when those tasks are finished.
For some ppl S3 just works, for other they have to fight to achieve it. But when it works its awesome.
Thanks for your response. The tool you referred me to does not have Windows 7 listed in the software list. I am sorry I forgot to mention that I am using W 7.
