The link below is from the "windows blog" and contains the US pricing for Win 7. 10% cheaper across the board compared to Vista! Also note the special pre-order pricing for US, Canada and UK people............. 50% off!
Frankly I've never understood why people don't just subscribe to technet plus. For a single yearly subscription of under $400 I get about 10 licenses of every MS OS plus office and heaps of other stuff. Buying boxed software is just not worth the money.

So you get 10 individual licences for Vista, W7, MS office etc. not 10 (of anything) in total?
What are the licence conditions if you do not renew for a second year? Do you have to remove the software from the PCs? It is the subscription bit I baulk at (year after year and when retired the cost of things is important).
At first glance it would seem cost effective especially if I need 2 W7 licences up front, then I could also have MS Office as well all for $400 for the first year?

The subscription allows 10 licenses of XP, Vista, W7, Office etc etc. and I believe you are not required to remove the software when the subscription expires. For me, with 2 desktops and a dedicated media centre it's very cost effective and I am happy to pay the annual subscription because it gives me access to so many other bits and pieces as they are released. You also generally get access to new releases before the general public so that is an advantage.
I'm just about to get a technet plus subscription. The "catch" is that the license is for your individual use only and that you are trialing the software. It is not intended for a main use or production server. However, there is no end date on the trial (full version keys) and they don't expire if you don't renew your sub.
You also get some MS support calls and access to more info.
Anyone looking at a technet subscription can use this code for a 40% discount.
TNSUMMER09.
this really makes it worthwhile, but hurry as I think this expires in July.
I was just about to post this as i found reference to it over at whirlpool. Anyway, i can confirm the coupon works as i just paid $307.00AUD for 12 months subscription to TECHNET Plus Direct.
Pretty cool, now just waiting on the email and login credentials
I'd been thinking about getting a subscription for a while now. That discount code sealed the deal . Just put in an order.
Hey mate did you get a confirmation email straight away? I'm led to believe that the moment you place the order you should receive an email stating the fact. Then another email saying payment is processed and finally a third email with credentials etc. I have checked junk mail and haven't received a thing.
