Thanks very much, I new it would be something so simple! The files were associated to open with WMP!

Sorry i have moved domains - batch file can be found now at the following

Hey guys, i have created a batch file that will automatically convert .wtv files back to .dvr-ms so ads can be removed. You just need to set it as a scheduled task.

Re: Help to write a batch file to convert recorded TV to DVR-MS

Yep Neville's applet is great. It always deeply perplexed me that we were having to rely on a third party intermediary when the internal converter is already in there and works so well.

Ive always wondered why MS never put 'convert to dvrms' in the info button menu within MCE, that would have been very handy too. I dont think it would have been that hard for them to do...

Hi - so I'm assuming from the above that LifeExtender works on Win 7?

Re: Help to write a batch file to convert recorded TV to DVR-MS

Is there a consensus as to which of the above conversiion apps/scripts is the best, or are they all basically the same?

Are they all able to be scheduled via Windows Scheduler? That is the main thing for me, to be able to do the conversions at night, and not while I"m trying to watch live TV, as I have enough skipping problems with that already :-)

Thanks for any help, always appreciated.

Re: Help to write a batch file to convert recorded TV to DVR-MS

To Paul Bruce

Hi Paul, thanks for your little program, tried it an it works perfectly! And to the others asking above, to date it is the best solution I've found so far, for my needs anyway.

You mentioned about using "Lifextender", did you by any chance get "Lifextender" working yourself, or has anybody else??? Every time I try it it finds the programs, removes the comercials but they end up corrupted, with insanely huge run times & unplayable.

Anybody else come across this or know of a fix?

It would just make life SOOO much easier if I could get lifextender to work alongside Pauls converter.

Thanks in advance

Baz

I'll try to get this out by the weekend of 11/15/2009.

I am now running WTVWatcher, and it's working great.

LifeExtender is also working, mostly. Looking at the event log it spits out a million errors, but seems to be removing most of the commercials anyway. It seem to try and process the same file multiple times - one time it succeeds and the next it fails. I guess it doesn't matter really.....

I tried the LifeExtender plug-in in Win 7 Media Center, but it just errors out.

Anyone else getting that?

Paul......that next version with the option to shut it down sounds fantastic - please let us know when it's on your site for download!

Thanks heaps guys.....

Re: Help to write a batch file to convert recorded TV to DVR-MS

I used super http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html to do this in Vista (MCE with TVPack). You can set up a list of .wtv files you want converted to whatever format you want. Converted them to vob files, edited out the commercials using womble and then burned to DVD.
