Question Is 'Fiji' going to be Vista R2?

In line with Secondary release naming strategies what is the interim release of 'Fiji' going to be called...and is there an international support Roll-Up as well as a new OEM release from Media Centre point of view?

I have read several articles of late on this newly touted release but a lot of them are very old and those that are new have lots of speculation about whether there are two interim products, which is OEM if any and what features that were touted for 'Fiji' now will not see the light of day until an inline release of Windows 7. (Crazy IMHO, unless there is an OS dependency as stated earlier here<link to be added>)

So my question is what will this release be called, and how will it be sold/delivered to end users?

Delivery method, and feature Speculation

Option 1
Delivery: OEM
Name: Vista R2 - would be a mistake no one like Vista R1 in user land and to align a major Media Centre update with Vista is bad please keep Media Centre centric and quash this rumour.

Option 2
Delivery: OEM or paid Upgrade
Name: Media Centre 2008 - makes the most sense to me especially if they include native CODECs for MPEG2, H.264, DivX, OOG, FLAC, as well as going at least some way to making "Media Centre 2008" a "Killer" ...couldn't have summed it up better myself....although Native Blu-Ray support and better management between WHS and Media Center(s)/extenders is not covered (belongs in a diff. post so I won't elaborate here)

Option 3
Delivery: Free or Paid update
Name: Windows Vista Media Center Feature Pack 2008 - Maybe...but alludes to the fact that it is not all we are hoping for...so do we have to wait for Windows 7 for a real worthy release? Or is it going to be a "Feature Pack" product from now on? Lastly, is this the only update we get or is there more touted before Windows 7 as this doesn't include all the initial features wanted in "Fiji"?

I mean just give us a proper name so we can stop upsetting the locals

Or "Windows Vista Media Center Update Rollup 1" maybe!

If you stuck all 3 options in a blender, you'd be getting close.

Re: Is 'Fiji' going to be Vista R2?

Hey, from my point of view Vista did nothing to Media Centre. Now that Fiji crap...
IMO, MCE2005 is still the best. Argue with me or not.
All I care is functionality. MS has some different opinion so some fanboys.

Re: Is 'Fiji' going to be Vista R2?

Yeah seen this one already...very quiet on the 'fiji' landscape...hope this is an indication features are still being worked on and not removed from the release.

Re: Is 'Fiji' going to be Vista R2?

I have found this floating around on a couple of sites.

Fiji, officially known as Windows Media Center TV Pack 2008, has Released! The input from Self Host testers has been invaluable to this product and the team would like to thank each of you for your bug reports and feedback.

As the release team is taking a much needed break, our next focus will be to post the final build onto the Products servers. Please check the newsgroups for updates. Once the build is live, we will notify you.
