Hi guys, it was suggested to me by a few members that I should perhaps do an 'announcement' that there was a new myTV trial released. So, that's what I'm doing
(moderators; if this is against site policy, feel free to edit/delete the post as appropriate)
Right, so myTV 1.0.08040 has been released. This is an application (commercial, although free trials are available) to organize your downloaded, ripped or recorded TV series under Windows Vista Media Center (no 2k5 available or planned).
Basically it will automatically download and update metadata for all your 'tracked' series/episodes and display them to you in a userfriendly way within Vista Media Center. All this metadata is stored on a 'local' SQL database (although, client/server scenarios are supported - where you have ONE server and several clients connected to the same database) as opposed to other solutions requiring .xml files cluttering up your filesystem.
The application also tracks what you have watched, when. Which definitely heightens the WAF with at least two points

This way, you no longer have to remember if you've seen a certain episode of Heroes or not - either navigate to the episode selection screen and get visual confirmation, or simply press the 'Play Next' button which is visible if there are new episodes.
There is also a separate 'New Episodes' screen, which will display any unwatched episodes aired (or if aired date is unavailable, added date) within the past 1/3/7/14/31 days.
Development of this is still on-going, but I believe (as does my betatesters) this is the final 1.0 - although, there will be a maintenance release shortly to properly implement Extender support (ie. file transcoding).
If any of this sounds interesting, please head over the the
myTV website and have a look. Trial editions are available from
here and the official 'support' forum
here (please keep in mind, most of the problems posted are related to the old pre-release - I'll get around to cleaning it up one of these days).
Any questions feel free to post either here or at the official forums.
