Updrading to Vista??

I have had a Vista media computer running now for a month now and dont mind Vista after staying away from it for so long.

My question now is that i want to run recorded programs on my XP desktop machine and am considering upgrading to Vista to do so and that my upgraded desktop has 4 gig of ram.

What is the best way to migrate to Vista with a fresh install or will it go over the top of my XP setup. I would prefer to not do a fresh install if I can avoid it.

I appreciate some drivers etc will need to be changed over however how many programs/games will be upset with the transition. Particularly COD4, Crysis and rFactor are the only games.

If I can get away with an upgrade only what are the dangers of loosing documents on the parent drive?

Thanks

Re: Updrading to Vista??

i've done both the upgrade and fresh install with full format, both worked but i found the fresh install has been much more stable...

At the end of the day if your going to upgrade the do a full system back before hand then if it goes south you can put the image back..
